Well done Rovers. Bouncing back straight away. You can't begrudge them after they finished on 91 points in the regular season.

Probably. I want to see Lincoln and Stockport back too. Mansfield got up eventually

Well done Bristol Rovers though, see you next season

The Conference is getting weaker and weaker year by year so the chances of Grimsby and Wrexham coming back get better each season. The glut of former League clubs stuck in the Conference has started to clear now as fewer of the tinpot bankrolled teams are coming through. I fancy Tranmere to have a really good go at bouncing back first time next season and Grimsby and Wrexham should be right there as well.

Be the biggest crowd at a Conference play-off final?
Should be comfortably the biggest. Rovers should take 35-40,000 on their own and Grimsby 20,000+ would be my guess.
It has set a new record, although not comfortably. 47,029 was the attendance today beating the old record by 4,360.

Tranmere and Cheltenham will both be strong after a slow start probably. Grimsby will be up there again and Wrexham will fancy their chances. Lincoln and Macclesfield will come back soon enough

Exeter, York, Mansfield, Oxford, Cambridge, Luton and Bristol Rovers have all escaped so the League has got weaker

Pretty disappointing sales by both clubs really. 26K from Rovers and just 12.5 K from Grimsby. Although with a 47K crowd the Conference are claiming 8.5K neutral fans bought tickets. I'm not having that for one second so some fans of each team must have bought tickets in the neutral blocks.

Tranmere are supposedly chucking a lot of money at it in an attempt to get straight back up. Whether it'll work is another question and you'd fear for them if it didn't.

I thought I heard the Rovers manager talk about 30,000 fans going and despite ticket issues. Not sure whay he meant by that or if I heard correctly.

Big changes next season with both the FA Vase and FA Trophy being played on the same day at Wembley (May 22nd)
I'm not sure I agree with this. Firstly think what having two games in one day will do to the state of the pitch and secondly what will the kick-off times be? If, say, you have the first one kicking off at 2.00 and the second at 5.00 what happens when the first one goes to extra time? Have the second match kick off at 6.00 and you'll most likely end up with the usual complaints that one (or both) sets of fans in the second match can't get home by public transport. Also consider the impact on the transport network of moving four sets of fans in and out of Wembley within a few hours of each other. And how are you going to clear all the fans from the first match out of the stadium quickly and stop people with a ticket for the first game from simply hanging around inside the ground and watching the second game for free?

It's a few weeks old now, but I love this story and glad it successful.

JJ is a good lad, met him a few times, as is Lee, who I've also met quite often.

Fantastic evening at Broadhurst Park last night as FC United celebrated the opening of their new stadium with a game against Benfica with over 4,000 there including some Benfica fans who celebrated their winning goal with exuberance (and some flares)

We also had an Eagle........

JJ O'Donnell set to leave Gateshead.

Shame, he was a good lad and a good player before his injury.

First friendly of the season ended Newcastle 1 - 0 Gateshead with only a Cisse penalty separating us from a top flight side.

Hopefully a good sign for the forthcoming season.

Just reading the local results for this weeks friendlies as well, Durham had a good win, 7-0 against Jarrow. You'll be happy if you're from Durham then!

Huge crowd at Edgar Street yesterday for the newly formed Hereford team that has risen from the ashes

A crowd of 4,259 turned up for Saturday's first Hereford FC pre-season friendly 1-0 win against FC United of Manchester of National League North.
It was the first home game for Bulls fans since the old club were liquidated last December.

Gateshead beat Dunston UTS 2-0 last night in our second pre-season friendly.

Couldn't make it, but I am hoping to go to the Harrogate game.
