Hi

I have freeview on my dvd recorder, I'm always getting a message about it finding new channels and do I want to upgrade now in which case it will wipe all my recorded programmes - usually I click no, but at the weekend I wasn't concentrating and clicked yes. As soon as I did I realised what I'd done and cancelled but now my freeview has completely disappeared - nothing in the guide at all - any suggestions?

Pretty sure you're wrong here.
What it probably means is that it will clear it's channel listings memory and a fresh channel rescan will find them all and any new channels.
Is it a Panasonic DVDR by any chance?...if so that message can be turned off in the setup menu.
You should always give the make and model no when asking for advice.

From one of the menus, you let it wipe it's settings, then stopped it before it could retune.

You really need to know how to retune any Freeview product, constant retunes is a fact of live with Freeview - with probably four (or more) required during DSO.
