My Hitachi Plasma has croaked
After 5 trouble free years my Hitachi 42 " PD 500 Plasma refuses to switch on , It all happened suddenly last night , checked plug and fuse etc and no success .Can anyone shed any light on the problem (being non techy) I really love this set and would hate to bin it ,It's a big old beast with features you don't get in new telly's i.e motorised swivel stand and quality detachable speakers hnce my aversion to buying a new model with none of these features and poor sound ,
Cheers all |

It's not a user fixable situation I imagine.
One possible solution from here: http://www.satpimps.com/showthread.php?t=92417 Model: 42PD5000 Condition: 1 Constantly Symptom: 111 No power on AC Tip: DEAD. No power on AC Check and replace as necessary the components listed below IRIS: Part Number: TS05102 RES 10 OHM 5W Reference: R003, R005 Section: PSU Power supply Defect: R Open Repair: A Replacement Part Number: TS05147 TRANSISTOR 2SK2843 Reference: Q201 Section: PSU Power supply Defect: Q Short Repair: A Replacement But that's for people who can repair stuff with soldering irons and the like. And it might not be that problem anyway. |

It's seriously out of most peoples league.
Probably a common fault, here's a £26 "repair" kit: http://www.chsinteractive.co.uk/view...mpaign=froogle But I don't know if this is for your fault. In practice unless you have experience of this kind of thing you will only destroy any value the TV has if you attempt to repair it. If you put it on Ebay as untouched then you might get some money for it from TV technicians. |
