I was too late to add this to my previous post so those who are suffering from selfish little sods behaving in an unsociable manner might like to adopt the "if you can't beat 'em join 'em' mantra.
An old dear I know dreads long summer evenings - it heralds the daily thump, thump, thump of ball against wall. She has complained but as others have found the stock answer is "they're only kids." The ball regularly comes over her fence and yes she does keep it, though she doesn't take a knife to it a la handy. Of course they go round asking for the ball back but she adopts a bewildered old dear expression and even though the little sods are pretty sure she has them, there's nothing they can do about it; at least that's some small consolation. I've told her to gather them up, hang onto them until the school holidays then invite a few fellow oldies round and have a good kick about around 6 to 7 a.m. According to her these particular kids never surface before noon - I'd love to see their faces when they realised the early morning racket was coming from a bunch of septuagenarians having a kick about.![]() btw any news of Laura? |

That is brilliantly funny and sounds like my Auntie Elsie, rest her soul. Gosh she was fiesty lol!
apparently my husband has misplaced his brain and given me a new reason to be grumpy. We have bunnies running in our gardens bless 'em, and hubby left a bag of hutch cleanings on the patio...well the cleanings are no longer in the bag. Of course the bunnies chewed through it and decided to eat on it for their afternoon tea :/ Dam! |

I was tempted to suggest she go it alone - tuck her frock into her knickers and boot that ball against the wall/garage door - but this normally tough old bird might have taken me at my word and I could have found myself bailing her out.

evening snowy.
Just realised it's that dreaded time of year when junior grumpies might be sweating it out revising or sitting exams - and those in the 'trade' will be equally stressed hoping that when you throw enough mud at the wall, some of it sticks. Good luck all. |

Thanks ever so my grumpy chums, here on DS and elsewhere. I didn't like to mention the bidet but it's there in my DS profile as ever it was.
![]() *Waves frantically at all other grumpers, old and new* Yup, stressed out exam city here. Oddly doesn't seem to have affected the examinees. Just their parents. Weird, that.

Good morning. And belated Happy Birthday wishes for KJ.
![]() It's raining and cold here this morning and we're just waiting for spring to come back. The tomatoes and strawberries are well into flowering so looking at them cheers me up. I made some chocolate covered sweet rolls so I'm just leave the plate over there in the corner and you can help yourselves. ![]() Mr. Home refuses to watch Game Of Thrones anymore. He says it's unnecessarily violent and bloody. I agree with him but am still watching it although not giving it my full attention when it's on. I'm a bit disappointed in it.

It's a good job Mr Home hasn't read the books, me@h - they're even worse. r better, depending on your POV!
![]() Little Melon had her first ever babysitter today - my friend from work came and looked after her for an hour and we went out for a cuppa and a chat. So far so calm since we got back - she's not gone to bed yet, though, so we'll see what happens there! Sending vibes to examinee's parents... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>>>>>>>>

![]() Here, I'm feeling nonspecifically grumpy. I can't put my finger on it but something's really making me tetchy. And no, it's not that time of the month ![]() When like that everything and everybody in my wake better watch out. For some reason I find that avoiding everyone and immersing myself in baking/cleaning/gardening, etc. (somethng physical ) usually brings the exact cause of the peevishness to come to the fore. I hope your normal state of calmness returns soon. ![]() My fuzz producing (but 100% cotton) afghan is almost finished- about 4 more rows to go. The fuzz even gets up my nose at times and also makes my eyes itch. After it's done I'll wash and tumble dry it and all the fuzz should be gone and I can go back to not having to vacuum every day. HM: Funny that you should mention Mr. Home and books. I've noticed that he's not been reading as much lately and then caught a glimpse of him reading the paper over the weekend. He was sitting on the sofa with the paper and trying to get it as far away from him as he could so he could see it. I think he needs reading glasses but is resistant to having to face up to this sign of middle-agehood. He's embraced the baldness but not the declining eyesight. I guess specs are OK for me but he's too vain for them. |

Me@Home - Himself resisted glasses for years. He done that Man thing you see all over the world. Man and Woman in shop/out and about. Man tries to read something and just puts his hand out. Woman gives man HER glasses.
Himself has reading glasses and glasses for driving. He had a flirtation with vari-focals but he couldn't get the hang of them. When he had the vari-focals he looked at me and said " I don't like these HD glasses I prefer none or Low definition. You look better when I've got these(vary focals)off." Now I'm sure there was a compliment in there somewhere. |

Bargain of the Day.
Having friends over at the weekend - popped into Tesco while passing. A variety of wines on offer at 3 for £12. Asked if I could mix and match - answer was yes. got to the checkout and was charged £20.02 - Yikes I said, this should be 3 for £12. First they questioned the mix and match offer, but having confirmed this applied agreed I'd been overcharged. Now Tesco have a policy "In the unlikely event of an overcharge, we will refund double the difference." The difference was £8.02 so I was refunded £16.04 - ergo paid £3.98 for 3 bottles of wine. That makes up for the fact that this morning I couldn't open my electric gates. I've arranged for an electrician to call, but that will be tonight - too late for me to drive to an appointment. 'twas public transport for me - well taxi then the train. Tonight I should discover the cost of the repair. Ah well at least I have £8 towards it.

Of course they go round asking for the ball back but she adopts a bewildered old dear expression and even though the little sods are pretty sure she has them, there's nothing they can do about it; at least that's some small consolation.
