Back to work with a bump today - laptop acting up, exam board not happy with my samples and wanting more information, list of ninety-three things to do. Bleh!

What can one say about funerals - to say they went well seems a little insensitive to the solemnity of the occasion but it wasn't all doom and gloom. In many respects it was fun remembering what a wonderful lady she was; supportive, witty, irreverent - but omg she could be haughty. When the circumstance demanded she could turn water to ice with nought but a look. Those who didn't know her well would never believe that beneath that gentle, elegant exterior was a will of steel, but she used it to fight tirelessly for what she believed in - a fairer society for all.

She was a lady from a different era and I doubt if I'll see her like again.

Iggy - I hope I've got someone as eloquent as you to say things about me when I've shuffled off. You're a good 'un, you are. ((((((huggle)))))))

Batty - I *so* know the feeling!
Hope all is proceeding as planned...

Hello cyberchums. I'm afraid I've not been contributing to GOW land as much as y'all deserve, what with RL worries. One day at a time, and as BG sez, "these things will pass".

Anyway, tonight's thinky:

Do you know anyone who expresses confuzzlement, or 'meh' by doing that "flap your lips by breathing out like wot horses do" thing?

pwpwppwpwp

I do it, and someone else at work did it. It's very reassuring not to be a lone nutter.

PS I bet MrHM does it.

Mr M is one of he world's great huffers of huge sighs, and the "horse snort outbreath" is indeed a signature one, usually signifying resignation or being too hot!

I noted at lunchtime today that I have now reached the stage of life where I can't stand up or sit down without grunting/sighing

And anecdote from school today which i shall spoiler as it's rather vulgar - but very funny:

Spoiler
Sex Ed lesson for the lower-ability group, mostly boys, taken by the Nurse but with teacher and TA in attendance to avoid any shenanigans.
One young charmer, eager to show off his huge range of sexual experience, made constant comments and observations throughout, basking in the perceived adulation of his classmates at his man-of-the-world status.
The effect was rather spoiled when the Nurse brought up the topic of foreplay and Our Hero, totally without irony, loudly enquired: "Foreplay? Is that like a threesome only better?"

I need slapped.... Just had a hairy mary of encounters with #3 slavette.

I'm now thinking that Himself and I have been too easy going and accepting with our big grown up girls and should have put the foot down before now. We are the ones paying all the bills.

I tip my hat to you, Pixie - my Dad and I wouldn't last five minutes living under the same roof these days!

Work = Exam Stress. Gah!

Thank you and yes. And it all seems to be very 11th hour with him this year, when, really, what happens in the next couple of weeks will decide whether he gets into the university of his choice or... gulp... any university. He's working hard now but I'm worried.

Plan B - gap year.

Bats, it's a well-known fact that everyone has one big academic occurrence. Good for the soul!

A gap year wouldn't be *that* terrible, would it?

*fans agitated mammalian*

My exam stress is almost at an end - I hope! Two signatures, a few ticks here and there, slap it in an envelope and wave it bye-bye... then hope that the miseryguts moderator is happy with my second sample. She didn't like the first one!

I loved exams - in fact I always thought I knew everything about everything - until I opened the paper and discovered I'd revised the wrong topics.
