Morning.

I put the heating on this morning. It wasn't freezing but it wasn't warm either. And it looks like it's going to be pissing down all day...

... Best get a fire made up for this evening.

Hi, folks!

Is that you on holiday, then, Amica?

Another day off for me tomorrow - better than I was but back of my mouth is still one big cocking abcess. Bleh! (OK, slight exaggeration, but not by much!)

Been sending lots of vibes to my fellow Grumpers today - glad you didn't need any, PQ

I have my car back, and we're celebrating with a Chinese buffet if Little Saddette ever gets out of the shower

Why?

Started new project; hard work but doing what I do best - glint's back in the eye, bit's back between the teeth - god that sounds ugly and so trite!

How is Laura?

Amica - hello xxx

Hello lovely and wonderful Grumpies. I hope all is well in GOW land.

I haven't been online much lately as some of my craft projects really took over and occupied much of my time. I'm finished it now so my house is now clean and everything else is back to normal.

I'm trying to catch up with the thread but will give you a grump while I do: Why does every workman who comes here need to take a stinking dump ? We just had someone in to fix the boiler (it was making scary noises) and typical of what usually happens he asked to use the toilet and proceeded to give me the full sound effects of his post-lunch evacuation.with smell-o-vision. I've just finished cleaning up after him and sanistising every surface I think he touched since I don't think he washed his hands afterwards. And to make matters worse he wanted to shake my hand before he left.

Handymelon - No backwash thank goodness. We noticed the toilet bowl filling up when it was flushed and we asked next door if they had noticed any problems and they had. Himself and our neighbour then procedded to lift every manhole cover in both our gardens and the sewage drains were almost full right to the top! It would only have been a matter of time before both of us or one of us were upto our necks in sewage. Next door is due a baby anytime now and I got all panicy incase the unthinkable happened. Himself and next door went off up the street lifting the covers in gardens and peering down them. As Himself is an engineer and knows how things work(it keeps him happy to let him think that) he got on the phone to the Northumberland Water and went on to tell the man on the phone the heights of the sewage drains for our house, next door, 4 doors up and for 4 of the houses across the road from us. Don't ask me how he knew this stuff. They came out within 30 minutes. The main sewer for the little estate was blocked. All clear now and I don't have to worry about my lovely next door neighbour having a massive clean up with a new baby almost here.

It was perfect - the sunshine was hazy but it was there, and we had the place almost to ourselves.

And how are you? Has the last white lump gone now?

White lumps are departed - leaving behind intermittent snot, temporary vertigo and total exhaustion. Still better than I was, though!

And hey - it's the weekend, right?

Yes, it's the weekend and you'd better bloody rest or you'll be laid up for the summer hols at this rate Take it easy and don't even THINK of going back to work this week if you're not 100%. It's not fair on you,it's not fair on the family, and it's not fair on your work colleagues if you pass it on either

Tonsillitis and just about any other "childhood" things usually floor adults. I'm surprised you still have energy to give us updates Handymelon.

A special wrap in the shawl is headed your way.

Himself is an engineer so "knows" about how stuff works. Over the years he's "improved" certain things around our home and it usually means bits left over that he says weren't needed. Any other Grumpies with an engineer will know EXACTLY what I'm on about
