Oh, I forgot to say Merry Christmas LL.

Interflora a being great but only up to a point - they can't give me the contact details. The Interflora woman tried really hard, put me on hold, and called them herself but unfortunately she doesn't speak Polish and they don't speak English. She's now sent an email marking it urgent so fingers crossed someone there will be able to read it... It would be so much simpler if I had the number. Grrr - bloody company policy crap.

That's bonkers. Could you get anywhere by googling Flower shops locally to where your ma lives, and looking at their websites to see if they're linked to interflora? Or just ringing them to ask, if there aren't thousands of them?

I've got the details of the most local one but they're not Interflora. Beyond that, there are too many to try (well, I might change my mind about that!) - the Poles love flowers and bring them/send them at the drop of a hat, so there's a flowers shop on every corner. It's lovely but doesn't make my job easier.

I've tried a couple of solicitors she mentioned in passing... well, mentioned the street name. I tracked them down but no joy, she's not a client. Everyone's being really lovely and helpful but it would be great to get somewhere with this, and soon. The longer it goes on the more worried I'm getting, obviously.

It's spooky. I thought I'd pop across to the shop for some cans (MrsKJ et al are living it large elsewhere) but I just *knew* I'd then be personally responsible for spoiling things so decided not to.

So I dug up some, ahem, vintage French dumpy lager (lordy it's stale, but interestingly dry) and as I wandered out of the kitchen the doorbell rings and it's RM with the pile of goodies.

PS I swear, it tastes of sherry. St Omer, 5 euro for 24, three years old at least. Lay some down.

I managed to get through to an Interflora call centre in Poland and they say that the order was delivered yesterday, but they don't know - and can't get for me - any details about who took the flowers. I could really do with talking to the person who delivered them but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. It's possible that her phone's playing up and that she did receive my card and the flowers but simply can't hold on to the thought of calling me for long enough to go and find a phone box or a neighbour who wouldn't mind her using their phone. But that's just a guess... I'm knackered and off for a swim. *splash*

It takes a superhero to solve a big problem. While I was swimming, Batman took it upon himself to call a few of the local (to mama) restaurants and bars. He eventually found a waiter who spoke good English and didn't mind popping over to see if my mum was home. She was, and assured him that I'm absolutely fine but in the UK and he's not to worry about me (the message was that I'm worried about her... but the detail doesn't matter at this stage). So, she's alive and as well as usual. I've no idea why she's not calling or answering her phone but I'm sure there's some interesting reason for it.

I can't say how big a weight's off my shoulders. Obviously the existing problems remain and aren't going away but she's alive and happy enough.

Sorry to have gone on grumpies. Twas theraputic to sound off here.

Anyway, let the festivities begin!

Morning.

We've got no plans and it's lovely. Batman's finishing work in an hour or two, we've done all the shopping and the house is looking tidy enough, so we might go out and have lunch somewhere, and if everywhere is packed then maybe just out for a walk. It's nice to just go with the flow...

Ray of hope department here. Our postie delivered our letters, but the Royal Mail parcels came in a different van, which stopped outside our house like the other parcel delivery services would.

I'd cross my fingers for you btu ti maeks ti hrad to type.

I've got the last of the presents today that would have made life awkward, just Mr Sad that's lucked out as all of his are showing as delivery after 25th now ... My fault, I took a punt and didn't order first class as they send via Citylink sometimes who can be a nightmare if you're not home when they deliver - won't leave it with anyone, just return to the depot. Mind you two books I ordered for my niece after placing Mr Sad's order have turned up...

But hey, other than that, all organised, just the pillow case gifts to wrap for the brats and we're done. Have cleaned upstairs while Mr Sad's begun painting the downstairs loo Mince pies once I've had my shower and wrapped the pillow case stuff... so far, been a productive but gentle day

Going to say Happy Christmas one and all right now, since I'm not sure of my whereabouts this evening but am secretly hoping it will involve alcohol...

We've delivered cards round the village, grabbed some last-minute essentials (blank DVDs!!!), sorted the recycling, hoovered everywhere downstairs and Mr M and Melony have been putting some extra decorations up in the sitting-room.

Still got the wrapping to do on Mr M's presents, but only M's doll's house left so *hopefully* not looking at too much of a marathon there.

Happy Christmas, lovely friends! May it be everything you deserve!
