I'm pretty sure you did thank me, or if you didn't I didn't take offence You had plenty on your plate at that time and replying to PMs would be the last thing on the priority list.

Batty, I have a constant reminder of you here in that instead of flocks of birds flying around of an evening, we have flocks of flying foxes .... hmmmm perhaps try saying that whilst tiddly

It's piddling down with rain here now but still 29C, I'm not sure whether I'm melting because of that or the fever.... I'm blaming fever because it sounds much more melodramatic

Morning grumpies

Aren't we all sad that Christmas is over? It's all that anticipation and then before you know we have to wait another year...

I think we're melting too, though halfway this week we're supposed to freeze up again I believe. No matters to me, as I'm off for the rest of the week *happy dance*

I'm not sad that it's over this year, it's not been the same for a variety of reasons and when it's just more hard work it's quite a relief to see the back of it...

... but I wish the holiday was longer, I'm off until the 4th but I know how quickly that time will pass *sigh*

Lovely to see you Socha

Eeek. I hope they're well behaved.

Socha - I keep glancing in your direction when we get the weather news and it looks like you've had a proper winter.

Here, it's been snowing all morning and it's still snowing now, with more due through the night. I'm cool with it - if it melts then we can go out tomorrow as planned and if it doesn't we're sledging again. Win/win.

Recuperating from having family down and cooking, eating and clearing up from the biggest roast dinner in recorded history (and a piece of victoria sponge, and a slice of apple pie with cream). Just about ready to consider some tea...

That's the way to do it!

@Sad - Watching Charlie Brooker.
I think Konnie has encouraged him to grow his hair into a more bouffant style.

Apropos a reply of mine in DS:GD

With some Orthodox churches celebrating several feast days according to the Julian calendar, their Christmas Day falls on 7 January of the following year, according to the Gregorian calendar.

With a tip of one's hat to multiculturalism, that's at least a longer holiday period, surely? The truly shameless can angle for two sets of pressies.

You'll be saying Happy New Year first too!

Go for it KJ.

We're back from a lunch party that went on a bit, but in the nicest possible way.

Ooo, is that a PG heading my way? It is!

*cheers grumpsters*

Piggery!!!

I just want to say that I love and adore my Kindle. I feel a little bit bad about that because I also love and adore books and bookshops, but it's beyond fab to think of a book and then have it to read in front of you in seconds. And so many of them cost £0.00!

At least that way, you'll get a few hours of reassurance that the world did not end in 2010 and that 2011 does start

I want a kindle but am still going through the "but I like to look at books on my bookshelf" phase. I've also got a bit confused by Brits in australia who have kindles as there is no amazon here, so i think you have to register it or get it sent to a UK address and get them to send it on and then operate from a UK credit/debit card, but i may have totally misunderstood. It's all academic anyway as I don't have enough money to buy a book at the moment let alone a kindle Have I grumbled before here about the price of books in Australia? It's quite shocking. I tend to buy them online from the book depository as whilst they aren't the cheapest book seller, they do send postage free worldwide and so it works out that most books I can get for about 60% of the price here.

Oooooh I'm grumping! Go me!

Anyway, LittlePlum has finally surfaced from her pit, so I better get her sorted out so we can go out!

My plan to have an early night backfired. I got into looking for ancestors on findmypast.com because they reminded me I had credits to use up. I've used them up now
