How is little Plum doing well I hope and settled, she will be growing up fast, are things that much more expensive in Australia? I thought the standard of living was cheaper than here, just goes to show you learn something new every day. take care Plum

Helloooooo LL LittlePlum is 8, nearly 9 now - time flies! She is still a giant and will be as tall as me by the time she leaves primary school I reckon. She settled in really well here and is doing well at school, after having to play catch up for a while since she missed out on Prep and part of Year 1. She got the award for Year 3 for most consistent performer in terms of effort, application and general good behaviour. So far each of her teachers have absolutely loved her. I'm a proud mum

Re cost of living, some things are cheaper here and some are dearer - probably swings and roundabouts. Books is just one of those where Australia loses out, which is a bugger because I'm a book worm! .... or a nerd

Yes, word on the street is that you were doomed before you went but I didn't like to say so. It seems the appeal of the sequel is restricted to those who enjoyed the original; so if you don't know the story, the sequel doesn't make much sense.

Morning all

I'm half asleep with my first mug of tea cooling and wishing I were still asleep. I'm at that awkward stage where I'm too asleep to concentrate on anything but too wide awake to sleep. So what better to do than come and witter on here

Mind you, nothing much happening here. Set up the table tennis table in the garage yesterday, well its not so much a garage as an undercover outside area.... then spent an hour or so "playing" table tennis with LittlePlum. It mainly involves bending over and picking up the ball again.... patience is a virtue they say - I was ever so virtuous yesterday, not sure I can hack it today though! She was definitely better at the end though .... but still awful of course! I bet its the first thing she says when she gets up though, she'll stagger along with her eyes barely open and say "can we play now, mum".

I haven't been to the cinema for ages, but I confess Tron doesn't tempt me at all. I wanted to see the Harry Potter one but cant justify the money, so will just wait til it's out on DVD. I have to go to the cinema soon though, because someone gave LittlePlum a cinema voucher for her Christmas so we'll have to go see a film to use that... not sure what my choices are. Just looked, it's Megamind, Voyage of the Dawn Treader or Tangled. Not sure I want to see any of them ..... I usually like kiddy films too!

Oooh yes I have! I loved Toy Story! I was really glad that they waited til they had a good story before making the 3rd one.

Ooooh another thread just made me think of something I've not told you all. I'm a Nanna now! sort of! My 20yo stepson's gf had a baby boy just before Christmas. It's not actually his, she was pregnant when he met her, so it's my stepson's stepson - so I suppose technically I'm a double step Nanna or a two-step Nanna.... that's a dance step isn't it? Hmmm I'd rather be a foxtrot in that case

We have done of our late night trips to Ikea, so Mr M is currently bathing a tot who's so tired she's turned manic...
Was good fun, though!

I started to realise my age when the children of pupils I'd taught strted turning up in my classes again! I currently have a Year 10 pupil whose Mum was in one of my first English classes, and there are two members if the teaching staff who are also ex-pupils of mine. FFS!
And for what it's worth, Sad - when mine hits 18, I'll be 60...

Plummie - go and see the Dawn Treader. Should be a belting good yarn if it's even a tiny bit like the book. Other two narnia films were corkers!

It's definitely the pick of the bunch. At the end of the day, we'll go and see whichever one appeals to young plum the most!

My New Year Guests start arriving any time after midday today and I think I'm sufficiently prepared to welcome them unflustered with a drop of something sparkling.

I've told my guests to forget about bringing booze - just bring something sparkly and by that I mean fireworks Come 2011 I plan to see it in with an explosion of rockets, stars and of course the odd banger - NOT, I hasten to add, a sickly pink porker from Mr. Walls.
