The other thing that is a pain in the bum here is that catholic schools (and/or church schools in general) are considered "private schools" and as such you have to pay fees each term. Meh!

I found the whole "private", state" and "public" school terminology very confusing when I first moved to Ireland. From what I gathered state schools are free and that's what we would call public schools in the US. In US public schools the books are free and the kids don't have to wear uniforms. The parents do have to suppli the basic supplies like pens, paper, notbooks, etc. No tuition is paid but there are trips during the year that the parent may want to send the kid on. In the US Catholic schools were private schools as are all other religious/philosophical (Montessori,Steiner, etc) Tuition is paid and uniforms are mandatory and worn by the book. There's also type of rental scheme on for textbooks so they're not really paid for. Kids in catholic/private schools and the fast track in public schools seem to get more "perks" though in being offered extra-curriucular activities to where there expecting to be dealing with tamed children instead of the wild beasts they might encounter in public school
Little Plum must be very excited about entering 4th year, I'm sure that's made her feel even more super-grown up than she did before.

How has she settled into having sibs?
(and btw: there are some wedding photos that I never got to see.hmmm
