Hi - can the USB socket be used to offload recorded SD programmes (or even - dream on - the HD progs) - in the same way as the Humax Freesat HDR - thanks

Yes you can easily Move/Copy to a USB drive. It must be formatted to FAT32 or Ext3. Probably best to let the Humax format the drive.

No restriction on copying SD programs, but we shackled with HD. Some will be copy once, so once moved onto the external drive you will not be able to move them back, but could still watch them direct from the drive.

All HD content is encrypted and will only play back on the Humax that recorded them. So in terms of backing content up, if your Humax goes faulty and you have it replaced, you will not be able to watch the HD recordings.
