I'm not a betting person but I've got Mary down as a frontrunner in the comp and I'm pretty certain she'll make the finals. She must be in with a good chance of winning.

I think she's in with a decent shout of a top 4 finish Disnae. She's probably the most powerful vocalist in the competition : I thought TreyC might be able to match her but Mary left her in the ha'penny place on Saturday.

Mary is looking more and more like a contender to me. Perhaps the public is tired of cookie cutter pop stars and she seems a breathe of fresh air.

I'm very much looking forward to Mary's rendition of "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me." Great song choice by Louis, and it's one I can see becoming the personal favourite that Mary reprises in the Semi-Final.

I'm confident she'll pull it off.

Mary's the only contestant whose odds are significantly shortening at the moment (at every bookie on Oddschecker save one), and she's taken the fifth favourite place from Cher.

Looks like you did well at 10-1, TommyG, the best you'd find today is 8-1 and Mary's at 6-1 some places.

Am looking forward to Mary sings Dusty!

Yes, the big market movement right now is in Mary's direction, with 1 Direction also shortening at half a dozen bookies. I expect they will move into pole position tomorrow night after another lacklustre Cardle performance as his status depends mostly on weeks-old bets and there's been little money placed on him in recent days.

Mary's in a good place, going into the night with momentum and a fair chance of increasing it with her song this time. A couple of tweets from rehearsal have given her the thumbs up— I'm optimistic she'll do well.

I really warmed to Mary so much even more after her performance on Saturday. Glad she is through. She seems such a lovely lady.

She's consistently good with her performances.I hope Louis choses wisely for her in coming weeks : I bet she could do an uptempo song without any difficulty.

I expect he'll be taking more "risks" with Mary as the competition progresses. He's probably feeling that it's best to play it relatively safe at this stage when the real pressure to perform is on several of the other acts.

Not that an uptempo number would be a "risk" in real terms. I'm sure Mary is well up to it.

And I'm looking forward to hearing her have a go.

I'm feeling quite defensive of Mary. She is very talented imo but is receiving quite an unfair level of criticism.

Hope Louis gives her a better song this week. She needs to put her own stamp on a song.

Cowell is operating to his own agenda and people can't really see it.It's obvious that she must have beaten One Direction for the last two weeks and probably by a good margin.Hence his sudden U-turn : he can't risk her getting to the final and depriving them of a place.

If One Direction were comfortably in the top 3,there is no way he would have criticised her on Saturday.

Hopefully Mary comes up with a good one on Saturday. She and Louis are well aware of the negative comments out there.

Could it be magic is not the best choice for her.I agree with above both katie and Rebecca plus Aidan are singing old songs and nothing is said.

Good luck Mary. I don't think that it's a great song but I'm sure you will be great

Well done to Mary tonight. She opened the show with a strong performance that looked even stronger after the next few acts had performed.

As much as I agree with Eurostar that Simon's comments last week were motivated by other factors than Mary's actual performance, I was glad to see her do something a bit more adventurous tempo-wise and also (arguably) more current than her previous song choices. She seemed to be having fun with it, too.

I think that the key to staying in the competition until the end has a lot to do with avoiding missteps, and Mary is one of the few remaining acts who have so far managed to do so. If she continues with consistently strong performances I really believe she has a shot at winning this—something I would never have guessed a month ago.

If the report in the Sun is accurate it's going to be ballad week.

I predict a standout performance from Mary.

If Mary can show that she can do softness and subtelty in contrast to the power notes, her wow factor will go up exponentially

Just watched Mary's performance back on Youtube a couple of times : big,big improvement on last week...probably her best performance since Week 3.

I've just re-watched on a HD download after watching the broadcast in real time via a fairly low-fi live stream and I agree.

It's high time for Mary to get a better slot in the performance order. It's looking a lot like deliberate sabotage to me.

I think Louis should give her a big 60's style belter again Tommy. She has sung three 1990s songs or later songs in a row now, none of which which are particularly her style, even though she did a good job with two of them.

As for the performance order,Cowell is being absolutely blatant in who he is favouring....he is making it quite clear he would gladly lose Aiden and Mary and that he wants a 1D - Rebecca - Cher final.

Well done to Mary for making it to the Final 8. I still think she'll be in the running for a while yet, but it's good to know she's assured of a tour slot and the cash that comes with it. It's a big step towards making her dream of a career in music a reality.
