I was at Charter Hall Colchester last night to see Ronnie make a Maximum against Jimmy in an exhibition match in aid of the Helen Rollaston Cancer Charity. Jimmy won the match 3-1 so overall it was the perfect match for me.
About £16,000 was raised with Jimmy and Ronnie (also Virgo and Michaela Tabb) giving their services for free.
I managed to bid for a framed canvas print of Jimmy who signed it for me at the end of the evening. I'm skint now but very happy!

A week to go. Higgins time on snooker's death row is almost at an end!

A nice tribute to Alex Higgins I thought. Some nice anecdotes. Good to see his sisters as well. Those two ladies kept him alive for the past ten years.

He was cancer free when he died. Such a waste that he died of malnutrition.

Nice to see old Ted Lowe still looking sprightly.

O'Sullivan is taking part in the Premier League tonight, but has pulled out of the Shanghai Masters citing a back injury!! His back is usually injured when he's due to play in the Far East.

Ronnie hates going to the China events don't he?! Amount of abroad tournaments he's pulled a sickie on or played like a drain and lost early must be a pretty high percentage.

Suppose he gets a bit of a free pass on this one as the Prem league is Hearns venture as well so he's not likely to get in trouble over it!

Really Jim :eek: I didn't realise it wasn't cancer that finished him off and that it was malnutrition.

That and pneumonia according to White. Lived on Guinness according to an interview he did with the Daily Mirror.

Yes Fred. Sadly it was lack of food and pneumonia. Bloody shame really.

I've seen the Guiness diet done on a tv show. A guy lived for a week on nothing but water and Guiness.

I guess it's only for prank and desperation purposes though and not for an unwell, frail man

I've always found scarecrows a bit sinister tbh. I think it stems from watching Worzel Gummidge as a child remove his head on a weekly basis. Strange perhaps that it wasn't the concept of a walking, talking scarecrow that bothered me.

I watched a little bit of todays action on Eurosport. Looked like Dave Harold was playing a slightly taller version of the bloke off Fantasy Island who used to shout "da plane, da plane".

Speaking of this Shanghai event. Am I right in thinking Ronnie is the current ( if not defending ) champion ?
