Is it? My Foehn & Hirsch player seems to be acting as a microwave!

All discs will be warm and even hot whatever player they come out of depending on how long its all been spinning around .

If its too hot to handle there would seem to be an overheating problem with your budget player .

No problem.
Its a very good value player especially as it saves the £130 it costs to make branded players multiregion for Bluray.

Referring to your "budget player" was instead of saying "you get what you pay for".

It is usual for costs to be saved on build quality as this is one of the things that does not show itself too often.

Overheating after long periods may be part of the deal .

How long was it in operation?

How hot is it? Is it too hot to handle.

Even the PS3 , especially the early bulky ones get very hot after a while which is why there were issues with the level of noise the cooling fan makes.

Is over the duration of a dvd or blu ray; is not too hot to handle, but hot enough for me to exclaim ' Christ!".

I shouldn't worry then.
It's quite warm this time of year so a couple of hours whizzing around in a confined space would make anything get hot.
If the player itself is also inside any kind of cabinet that would make it get even hotter
