iPod Touch 64GB Latest Version?
matty125
31-08-2010
Hi, My birthday is 11th September and have told my parents I want an iPod Touch 64GB Latest version. But what is the latest version.

One problem. My mum doesnt know about the different versions available.

Aparently I need the iPod Touch 3g as its the latest.

Im not bothered about 4G when it comes out. But what things does my mum need to look out for when buying the latest version of iPOd touch.

And any recommendations?

Apple are set to release new versions of the touch tomorrow. So hold on for a day and see what new features there are.

I have been waiting to buy one too. *getting excited*

September 1st (tomorrow) Apple are holding a press conference to announce the release of the new ipod tocuh. This is more thanl ikely to be a world wide launch, or at least major countries like the UK. The actual release date will probably a month from now. It'll almost definitely be after your birthday so you you'll have to wait for it but at least you know what you are getting from tomorrow, prices will be announced then too although it'll be in $'s so you'll have to wait closer to the release date to get UK prices.

You don't HAVE to get it on your birthday though do you?

As said, might take about a month, but I would rather wait a few weeks and get the new version than buy the old version.

Could be £169, £210, £250 or something like that. If it's announced tomorrow I'd assume it will be available to order round about 7pm from the Apple store or in a few days. Depends if Apple thinks it's made enough to release it ASAP or not

Ok, Seems to be mixed rumours so we will se tomorrow then. And yes it will be my only present so I may have to got through the whole month to get my present. At least i know what I will be getting. HOPEFULLY DOESNT COST MUCH MORE THAN THE CURRENT 3G AS MY MUM SAID SHE WONT SPEND TOO MUCH ON IT

The keynote speech is at about 6pm UK time, so the apple store will go down just before then and be back up about 7 or 8 with the new images, specs and UK prices. Usually first order stuff on the day of a keynote arrives about 2-3 weeks later.

You can follow what happens on sites like engadget and gizmodo if you want to see the info as it happens.

AFAIK 64 GB itouch is only available as a 3rd gen, 2nd gen was 32GB maximum. So anything 64GB should be OK, either 3rd or 4th gen, once they are available. You should wait for the new models to either get the new one or to get the old one cheaper.

A few folk are reporting the keynote has moved to 12pm PST now which is 8pm UK Time but it's not confirmed. Until it is it's safe to stick with 10am PST. Surprised there isn't a keynote thread yet

I wonder if this thing is going to be like the iPhone 4 minus the phone features? It will have a camera, whether its the same as the iPhone 4's is a different story, retina display would also be excellent,

Sites like engadget and Gizmodo attend the conference and post a live blog while they are there. So they know all the times before hand. I think Gizmodo have been banned from attending though since the iphone 4 leak and they get their blog from somewhere else, or at least they did last time.

Some cases and front faces were leaked earlier and it looks like it will have a front facing camera and and the same camera as the iphone 4. Looks identical too apart from the screen size being wider and smaller i think. That or the opposite which is narrow and longer, cant remember which.

I very much doubt they'll change the screen aspect ratio as that would require different versions of apps for the iPhone and iPod touch 4G. I expect it will have the same 640x960 display as the iPhone 4, however the device itself will probably be slightly smaller than the iPhone (as previous iTouch versions have been).

Play.com are offering a free pair of Maxwell in-ear headphones when you buy any new iPod - they are worth £10.

Amazon are doing pre-orders at the minute, and you can get £50 off if you sign up to Audible for a year [costs £96].

There doesn't seem to be any other offers going at the minute.
