East Enders, Emmerdale and Millionaire all failed to record on long standing series links (BBC1 WM, ITV1-HD Granada). Was it just me ?

Not just you, Emmerdale failed for me too. Eastenders OK, but I get that at 10.00 on BBC3.

The repeat of Emmerdale on ITV2 also failed. Done a full reset this morning, so far it looks like normal service has resumed

Had Millionaire (119),Holby(101) and The Deep (108) all on series links. Noticed at 3 minutes to 10 that Millionaire was still recording, stopped it at which point it started to record the last 3 minutes of The Deep and Holby had failed completely.

The Deep (108) recorded correctly on Accurate Record for me. I wasn't recording anything else at the same time. 119 and 108 have different polarisation. Do you have a twin LNB setup and are both tuners working? Just a thought.

Depends which of the two ITV1-HD variants your postcode put at 119. BBC-Hd and Granada ITV1-HD are both vertical polarised. For the first time this makes recording both BBC-HD and ITV1-HD possible at the same time with only a single lnb

Emmerdale failed for us last night, recorded fine tonight though.

Is there still a problem with Coronation Street on Series Record on HD. Since the problems during the World Cup I'm still recording the SD stream. Did try it a few weeks ago and it failed on HD but seems to be working fine for my dad. Maybe a reset would do the trick.

I thought channels had to be on the same transponder, not just the same polarization with satellite? That certainly seems to be the case using a sat card on my HTPC.

Nope

A hdr with the second tuner looped to the output of the first can record any second channel channel sharing the same polarity and frequency band as the first tuner has switched the lnb to and 3rd channel viewing is available from any channel sharing a traqnsponder with either recording.. As by far the majority of Freesat channels are low band then close to 50% of the available channels can be second recorded for most combinations. A single tuner can handle two channels from the same transponder, in the special case that both recordings are being made from the same transponder then the second tuner can 3rd view any channel matching band and polarity and also time shift it (The 3rd channel is being buffered to the time shift buffer). The difference between your card and the hdr is that the hdr has two tuners fed from the same lnb when in single cable mode and your PC only one.

OK, I see you need two tuners, but it wouldn't work if you only had one.

No it would not, as you say the best you can do is dual record two from the same transponder given a suitable tuner. Incidentally using this fact the Humax Icord (The German twin tuner pvr on which the hdr is based) can record four channels at once. Theoretically it's possible for one tuner to record a whole transponder/mux. The Topfield 5800 for instance with the aid of a TAP can record a complete mux at the same time, you need to be really dedicated and have a big hdd to use this though

Not a series problem but I got the dreaded: "Recording failed for unknown reason" when I tried to record; "Farewell to the Bill". First failed recording since the 'Lewis' debacle for me.

Statistically it would be useful to know of how many Humax are now in use.. as specificaly for the programmes mentioned by you Graham..viz Eastenders and Emmerdale my input is contradictory to some others..
Both programmes last failed [Same evening] on August 18th [Strange that?]and they are on permanent series record..however they have not failed since..
Hope this helps.

I've had Corrie fail to stop recording tonight on my Grundig GUFSDTR500HD. Fortunately noticed it and stopped it manually. Didn't cause any other issues. Anybody else have this?
