Ordered one of the 101's but they have now said delivery wont be until 2nd half of december so i cancelled.

There is a 250gb version of the 7" tablet due soon too. Cant decide which i prefer. Bigger screen or bigger memory.

For those worrying about the market access it can be had with a very simple fix. Just need to load the .apk which is freely available if you search.

Anybody got one of these still? I see it's been updated to Android 2.2.1 now and is pretty much perfectly stable.

Just wondering how good they are and how easy it is to install the official Android Market [is it as easy as dropping the APK file on it?]

I figure for ~£150 you can't go wrong for the 8GB one.

One of the most useful travel tablets. Despite its age its no doubt, by far the lightest of the breed.

Methinks the newer models are being released so they are having a clearout.

To catch the small extra profit considering 8GB version is not expansion crippled?

On the face of it, this is the most interesting tablet release by far.
I'm not sure if they are testing the water with one site only having 4 units for home delivery on the 3rd.”

£50 quid more buys a transformer with dual core processor, android 3.2 and 1280x800 display.

Its available £150 as mentioned. It sells for more 2nd hand.

The new Archos 101 G9 is interesting. A 250GB hard disk and standard USB host and standard mini HDMI too.

Hm, I am not enthusiastic about Android anymore. It's just like with Linux for PCs, too many different versions out there. I wonder if Windows 8 will change anything.

Bought the Archos 101 from The Carphone Warehouse today and for £150, it's a bargain. Didn't want to spend the earth and primarily just wanted a decent screen and internet browsing experience. It comes shipped with Android 2.2.1 Froyo and as an Android newbie, this does me fine.

Once you go through a 5 minute process to update and get the Android market, you can also get Flash. Pleased to report that it plays embedded videos in Digital Spy and BBC News as well as standard fare like YouTube. It's incredibly light, reasonably fast (obviously not iPad/Galaxy Tab speed) but good enough for basic surfing, emails and stuff. The RAM is fairly small (256mb) but as long as you keep open.apps to a minimum, it handles fine.

Gotta say i'm really impressed so far and i can see it retiring my laptop for work use only. I'm using it to type this reply (best in portrait mode) and it's fine. The capacitive screen requires a touch of pressure i find, but not a major issue. The screen is crystal clear and a great size for lounge surfing.

If you're on a budget and want a decent, value for money tablet and considering there are smaller, no name brands selling on Amazon for £160+, then this is a steal at £149.99.

Seems the budget Arnova line has been upgraded .
£145 for the 7" Arnova 7c G2 SIM free wth GPS (CPW).
http://arnovatech.com/products/g2/ar...try=se&lang=en

Seems amazingly functional with the GPS for the car.
The non GPS version the G2 7 uses a fast A8 CPU but its certainly the 7c that is the more interesting item.
