Cyclone II 3.5" SATA HDD Player problem

Hi all,
I recently bought one of these (http://www.sumvision.com.cn/searchResults.aspx?ptype=47 (3rd one down)),
but whenever I plug my USB data stick into it, the box stops responding.
Has anyone got one of these and does the USB port work?

Try plugging your USB stick in before you power-up the Cyclone.
