Toshiba BDX2100 blu ray help
sandman112

Hi all

I'm new to this whole blu ray thing, just played my first blu ray disc in the player and tried to access the BD live stuff on the disc but it said something about not enough memory available to access BDLive features. Does this mean that if i want to use the BD live thing that i have to plug in a USB flash/hard drive for it to work properly ???

and can i also ask how i go about updating the firmware on this machine ... according to the toshiba website there are no downloads for this player yet on the comet website someone claiming to be from comet tech support is passing arround a download

http://answers.comet.co.uk/answers/0...uestion=170104

which he claims improves MKV support

yet the downloaded zip file contains a file called

8530_linux_demo_dbg.bin

which to be honest sounds nothing like a blu ray firmware update ???

guess im asking does anyone have this player and have you found any official firmware for it

cheers

Unfortunately, to fully use BD-Live, you have to connect the device to the Internet, via a ethernet cable connected to a broadband router & Install a formatted USB Flash drive for it to work....
As for the second thing, Linux is used by Toshiba for their products, though I suspect this is a "Unofficial" update, not supported by Toshiba, at best, and at worst ,is malware......

Hi sandman112

My name’s Glenn and I’m from Comet.

You would need to plug a USB stick of 1Gb or higher in to the player to access the BD live options.

Please contact me on the link below for further assistance regarding the firmware downloads as I would be able to provide a direct link offering further information on how to complete this.

https://comet.custhelp.com

You will need to register a few details with us to be able to send your e-mail in.

Please quote my name and date of the post .

Thanks
Glenn

just to continue on this thread, - a slight diversion from Db-Live is the Blu-Ray special features like picture in picture. (which needs BD1.1)

But so few blu-rays take advantage of this.

So the terminator 2, and 3 disks are super - they have picture in picture commentaries - and the band of brothers set does something similar

but i dont think any of the other ones i have (admittedly not a great number) take advantage of stuff like this.

anyone else got any recommendations for Blu-Rays with top content?
