Hi,

You need a broadband connection of at least 2 mbps. Otherwise, they won't sign you up.

As been said you need at least 2Megabits sync speed.

the problem you may6 be having with Iplayer could be due to BT shaping, restricting your speed, they did that to me a lot, which is why I got rid of them.

as said above as long as you have a 2mb line speed you'll be fine. BT throttles speeds at peak times. for instance i couldn't watch iplayer or sky player after 7:30pm but BTvision is fine. They don't stop you from watching their own product.

That is true, but then I never said they did. BTV uses a QOS system.

So you get throttled as well and people kept telling me that Bt don't throttle unless you go over the limits.

They throttled me like hell, in the evening, which is when I wanted to use the net.

Never again will BT have my custom on broadband.

@noise747: i quoted you but ended up replying to the OP.
So i wasn't disagreeing with you or saying you'd said the opposite.
my mistake.

But yes i am throttled for all non-bt media streaming.
my connection speed is about 3.5mb during the day and down to about 2.8mb at night. which should be fine and all normal web browsing etc is no different. but try and watch something like skyplayer at night and its impossible. during the day its perfect.

aaaarrrrgghhhhh noooooooo, don't say those things.

ive just moved my BB to sky.

i can't see how my friends can view skyplayer at night but i can't and it not being a BT BB problem. If it was a sky's end surely none of us could view it?

Sky will prioritise Sky Player traffic on it's own network so that those on Sky BB will likely have no issues. the video traffic will be given a free ride through on Sky BB.

For all the other ISPs - it's down to how much bandwidth Sky have provided at the interconnect point into each ISP.

When i used Sky Player - during weeknights at peak (ie. when a football game was on) it couldn't cope with the 700k stream (lowest quality), as soon as it finished (~9.30pm when people would tune out), it worked.

During that time I tested my line out on various speedtesters and was getting between 3-6meg throughput. BT Vision using double the bandwidth had no issues.

For me - when I could prove my line was working and download other content at high rate it really suggested to me that Sky were not providing enough bandwidth into the BT ISP.
