X-Factor Germany :-)

Hi you all,

two weeks ago, X Factor finally started in Germany.
For all of you who are interested - you can always watch the last episode for free (for 7 days) on voxnow.de
http://www.voxnow.de/x-factor.php

After 7 days, the older episodes cost 0,99 Euro per Episode.

The best thing:
This works also outside of Germany - you don't need a German IP to watch that.

Greetings to the UK

I've been watching and it's been really good so far. I found it odd that Sarah's bootcamp phase is going to be broadcast on a different day but oh well...gives me something to look forward to for next tuesday.

Yesterday the final nine were revealed in the Judges Houses (Jury Haus) stage of the competition.

I'm not 100% satisfied. I would have prefered Denise over Meral in the "Overs" category. And in the groups category I would NEVER have chosen La Famille ... instead I would have taken Karma even though they probably wouldn't stand a chance of winning the show. Sarah probably made the best decisions, however it broke my heart to see Caprice go home. I think I would have taken her with me instead of Pino.

However, the most promising acts are Big Soul, Mati and Edita. Look forward to the first live show next Tuesday...

Edita Abdieski seems to be on her way to become a really good singer. Here are her live show performances so far (my favourites first):

Show 4: "Heavy Cross":

Show 1: "Empire State of Mind":

Show 3: "Respect"

Show 2: "Street Life"

I think you have an international popstar there in the making. She's great. Her standard of performance is outstanding.

Currently following both X Factor UK and the Voice of Holland... I'm not trying to undermine this thread, but I thought it was a good place to put some additional performances from Holland. It's a really nice format (blind auditions, jury members can turn around if they like what they hear, out of those the singer can choose his/her coach for the rest of the show) with some quality singers:

Jennifer - "Easy"
Lenny - "No Woman No Cry"
Sarina - "Sober"
Kim - "Whataya Want from Me"
Johnny - "You Give Me Something"
Esther - "Tell Me 'Bout It"
Ben - "Use Somebody"

Worth watching if you're a music fan...

I would like some more links to highlights from Germany as well, it's really nice to see some great performances from other countries (like Denmark this year's X Factor).

Glad you like it You can find almost all auditions on youtube, there are many other good singers but the list would become too long... The blind auditions are over, next week they will go to some kind of 'arena' to battle with their voices against each other.

The best performances this year were in USFO (Unser Star für Oslo), the search for our ESC performer.

Lena Meyer-Landrut (winner, semi-final round 1): "Mr. Curiosity"
http://www.unser-star-fuer-oslo.de/u...ialTab=related

All of her casting performances are very worth watching:
http://www.unser-star-fuer-oslo.de/v...&tags=usfolena

Christian Durstewitz (3rd place, semi-final round 2): "In your hands"
http://www.unser-star-fuer-oslo.de/v...ialTab=related

Kerstin Freking (4th place, semi-final round 1): "Somedays"
http://www.unser-star-fuer-oslo.de/v...ialTab=related

Sharyhan Osman (5th place, in an earlier round): "I feel the Nile"
http://www.unser-star-fuer-oslo.de/v...ialTab=related
This song has been composed by herself and would not have been out of place at the ESC

I love Lena. A worthy winner of eurovision. I liked the version by Jennifer Braun, but Lena's was funner and more likely of winning.

Today was the semi finale on german x-factor.

For next weeks finale the group Big Soul and Edita are set.

Favourite to win, should be Adita Abdieski. The Swiss born never failed trough the whole series and was never bottom 2

Today the Top 3 did the first group performance and as a specal they were joined by thementors. Just imagine Simon and Louis performing with the candidates.

So yesterday there was the finale of the german X-Factor

Edita Abdieski won the first series against the group Big Soul. In Germany they had mostly male winners on casting shows. But this year seems to be different: Lena Meyer-Landrut won USFO and now Edita Abdieski X-Factor.
Different to UK in Germany Edita won the show as a foreigner, that never happened in UK.
Edita is a worthy winner, she was the best trough the whole serie. The single "I've Come To Live" is ready for download and the CD containing an additional track (cover of Gossips "Heavy Cross") will be available on Friday. Different to UK X-Factor ist the fact that the winner song is not a cover but a new song.

Ok, time for some more Edita appreciation.

In the final, she once again took on a song by one of my favourite singers. At first, I had problems with this, as her voice does not compare to Leona's, but once one accepts this and does not try to compare, it is a good performance in its own right:

"Run" http://www.vox.de/video/index/anzeig...dieski%20singt

Here she takes on another great song in a style quite incomparable with her predecessors:

"You are so beautiful" http://www.vox.de/video/index/anzeig.../Edita%20singt

Here is a performance where she impresses with her dancing:

"Blame it on the Boogie" http://www.vox.de/video/index/anzeig.../Edita%20singt

In the final, she performed a duet with Xavier Naidoo, which shows that German is quite a good language for her to sing in.

"Wo willst Du hin" (with Xavier Naidoo) http://www.vox.de/video/index/anzeig...vier%20Naidoo:

FInally, here are two more inimicable performances. In the latter, she was overcome with emotion, because the song reminded her of personal tragedies.

"Release Me" http://www.vox.de/video/index/anzeig...dieski%20singt

"Russian Roulette" http://www.vox.de/video/index/anzeig...dieski%20singt

Oh, and she won the final with 74.1% of the vote, so there is no debate about the outcome. However, two rounds before, only 4.2% of the vote separated the first and the last place (4th) in the voting: http://www.ioff.de/showthread.php?t=394695

this is probably a stupid question but do they sing any songs in german, are there any popular german speking songs?
TheFreakster
08-12-2010
My last post was about Holland, and there they hardly (almost none) sing Dutch songs during the show. Most Dutch musicians write and sing in English as well, as this is the most popular. Of course there are enough Dutch songs as well, some of which being popular, but in no relation to English.

I think the same would account for Germany, maybe a bit less as it is a bit less English-orientated than the Netherlands? You mostly see English songs in Scandinavian talent shows as well.

Germany has started the song selection process for the ESC 2011 in Düsseldorf. Lena Meyer-Landrut will defend her title, and there are two semi-finals where she performs 6 songs each, followed by a final with the 2x3 songs that received the most votes.

From the first semi-final, held yesterday, a clear winner emerged (got ca. 70% of forum votes; official vote results not revealed):

Taken by a stranger

The page http://www.unser-song-fuer-deutschland.tv/index.html currently shows the 6 final candidates for Germany's ESC song ("Die sechs Finalsongs").

Besides "Taken by a stranger" another nice song is "Push forward".

A brilliant rendition by Edita Abdieski of her "X Factor" winning song "I've come to life" can be seen on the Swiss programme "Aeschbacher vom 26.12.2010" (from 1:04:28 to 1:06:56).

X Factor Germany Season 2 just had its second live show.

The casting episodes this season were much criticized for presenting too many background stories and bad candidates, thus becoming more like the dreadful DSDS (German Idol).

We now have a credible field in the live shows, but not a clear favourite yet.

Here are some of the best:

(Sorry, direct video links appear not to work, so I can only link to the candidate pages, from where you can select the videos).

Martin Madeja, 2. Liveshow: "New Age" (Marlon Roudette)

David Pfeffer, 1. Liveshow: "Stop and Stare" (One Republic)

Nica & Joe (Veronika Belyavskaya & Joseph Guyton), 2. Liveshow: "One" (Mary J. Blige & U2)
Two ladies whom I would rather see after another year or two of singing education:

Raffaela Wais, 2. Liveshow: "Soulmate" (Natasha Bedingfield)

Monique Simon
, 2. Liveshow: "So What" (Pink)
