Humax Foxsat now only £209 inc. P+P on Amazon

Noticed the Foxsat HDR has been reduced to £209 this weekend. It was also reduced last weekend but went back up midweek, not sure if Humax have made price reductions but there's no special offer banner listed for the product.

Pick up a bargain if your thinking about getting one.....!

Not just at Amazon but also Dixons and Laskys - could they be clearing stock in advance of the release of the MK2 PVR ?

So am I - and although there is a long wish-list from some current users, the new model is being kept very much under wraps. They obviously won't announce it until shortly before release but this significant price drop looks odd. Unless they are trying to increase their market share ahead of other Freesat+ PVRs coming onto the market like the recently announced Echostar model which should reach the shelves before the end of 2010.

They announced the replacement to the Foxsat HD - with the same front panel design as the HD Fox T2 Freeview HD model - at the very same press launch last year.

One logical thing for them to do would be to launch a dual Freesat/Freeview HD PVR

It would be nice if they could get rid of the last few bits of skankiness from the user interface but the only thing that would make me give my current model away and rush out to buy the new one would be being able to set the device via the 'net.

What's the betting that any new model retains the current annoyances and concentrates on flash new features?

I am certainly tempted by this away from freeview and my beloved Topfield 5800 (if it doesn't come back under warranty) but how do these compare to that? Would I be frustrated by the GUI or is it pretty intuitive.

It seems to be up and down like a yo-yo!

I wonder if they raise the price when they are low on stock and reduce it again when they get a delivery.

It would make good business sense to do that.

Some outlets seem to consitantly reduce prices at weekends. I don't know why, any ideas?
