Sorry, couldn't think if what else to call the thread.

Couple of stories.

Both myself and my wife live in Northumberland, we are both on Orange.

I recieved a random message saying "message recieved" and a mobile number at about half 2 this afternoon, it was a number a didn't recognise, I double checked my phone book, and, confused, forgot about it.

Half an hour later, my wife's phone rang, and the number that popped up was her mother. So, she answer, and got a Scottish sounding lad talking to her, someone she didn't know.

A few minutes later, my wife's mam sent her a text, saying "rang, you put phone down", this call never happened, so, I hypothesise that she had a similar experience.

15 minutes ago, I had a phone call from the number that came up on my phone earlier as message recieved, it was a lad in Margate, who said that his wife had sent him a text, but the number that had came up was not his wifes, but mine (his wife even quoted the text to him). I've never been to Margate in my entire life and don't know anyone down there. But, this lad did tell me that he was also on Orange.

So, I think at least 6 people now are thinking "what the hell happened there?"

Any ideas?

I've just spoken to an elderly friend who also received 'wrong number showing' texts.
He called Orange and was very poorly treated. Was pleased when I told him that it wasn't just him.

This happened to me at about 6pm on Thursday.
I had a missed call text for a landline number I didn't recognise, which when I tried ringing back gave me the 'this number is not recognised' BT message!
Feel better now knowing I'm not the only one.

Good to know I'm not going mad, any idea what happened? Computer going nuts? Problem with a transmitter?

Do you think if I asked Orange they could give me a reason, or would they just shrug their shoulders?

A few months on I realise, but seriously, does anyone know what might have happened here. It was a strange day.
