Though of course, I expect it's just your usual throwing of your toys out of the pram for a little attention. You really do need to stop this tediousness though.”

You really are a quite amazingly arrogant and condescending individual, aren't you? 'Lack of education'? How dare you! I don't see things your way-in fact, I find many of your opinions ridiculous, but I've never stooped to insulting your (alleged) intelligence despite your persistently disdainful, sneering and frankly insulting attitude to me and to others.

I don't know what your problem is but I'm done listening to you.

Really enjoyed the Who Proms prog last night !

I'm not a big lover of classical music , but seeing it being performed live & in conjunction with the big screen footage , helped me to realise what a very important part of the programme , the music is .

That little lad was brilliant with Matt , keeping his head still , etc .

All the baddies were good too , & Karen was yummy , as ever !

Oh I know you said that now.....but in the past threads about the music you have quite a few times been suprised that anyone notices it, unless it is being intrusive, and that we don't need it...meaning its pointless....nothing about whether it succesfully enhances it or not... So I would say its a step up, even if you hate Murray's mix

Not being condescending, just saying it straight. You obviously have a lack of musical education, which is shown in your strange view that music can only work if it's coupled with words. As I say, it's possibly not your fault. But I would have expected a more intelligent stance from you, in fact I'd have expected a more intelligent stance from a 10-year-old. You should watch an episode of Dr Who with absolutely no music at all - I think you'd soon realise how much it contributes to the show.

I totally agree. It's a TV soundtrack music piece. You don't need lyrics to engage emotion in the viewer and add to the drama. Murray Gold does it expertly and while there are some super actors on Doctor Who there's no way they would have the same effect if it wasn't for the superb scores that he composes.

I've just caught up watching the Prom and it was fantastic. I am a big fan of Murray Gold and Ben Foster in DW and TW anyway. Brought tears to my eyes and there is an extended version on BBC3 on Friday I will be recording as well.

Not watched the prom yet because as there's an extended version on Friday, don't see the point of watching it twice......

Ah yes, but when
Spoiler
Wilf was tapping on the glass

That was incredibly saddening and there was no music. Or maybe the music was the absense of music. I don't know.

Anyway, stop arguing on my thread.

(To non arguers) I watched and recorded the proms on monday but i'll be recording it on Friday too. I love the proms.

Just watched this. How cringeworthy was Karen Gillan's performance. It truly demonstrated what a poor actress she really is.

I wish I could record it, I can watch it again, but I cannot record it.

I think she wasn't acting, she was just being herself and very lovely she was.

Karen is as fine actress, despite your peculiar inability to engage with her. But since this was not a drama production anyway, so I doubt she was attempting to act, I don't see that this-or your comment-actually has any meaning or relevance.

She 'acted' the same way she does when she portrays the character Amy Pond. Therefore she's a really poor actress who can't stop her own characteristics coming out when she 'acts'.

All that 'whooping' and 'yes-ing' to the crowd, God it was vomit inducing!!

And don't get me started on the Matt Smith segment......

God, you really are reaching for the most tenuous things to hang your argument on, aren't you? Well, I've got to give you credit for trying, I guess...

Well, just record the proms then, cut out the segmets with Matt and Karen and you can enjoy them.

With regard to series 6 it might be more difficult to cut them, but maybe you are lucky and they only stay another 2 or 3 series. You can then enjoy Doctor Who again, without needing a bucket.

The actor who plays Rory outshines both of them.

I think I said it before, I understand if you don't like them, and I think it's a shame for you if you like the show (which I think you said you did a lot). I have always been lucky, I never disliked a Doctor/companion team as much as you dislike Matt/Amy or tingramretro disliked David/Donna.

If I disliked them as much, I probably would stop watching until the next doctor/companion arrives.

I think Doctor/Donna was one of the better relationships. It did away with the gushy romance stuff that I found detrimental to the story arc a lot of the time.

Absolutely, there are definitely times when an absence of music says as much as lots of music, it's a matter of getting it right, but if a whole episode had no music (I watched an episode of warrior's gate on Gold or some such a few years ago which had precisely that, no music track for some reason, don't remember that being the case originally) it really notices and lacks.

Aren't all threads a vehicle for debate? I'm sure you must have disagreed with someone on these forums at some point. I just can't listen to the prattling of idiots who blow themselves up into some kind of all-knowing oracle, without challenging it! I apologise if you feel it's dragged this thread down

Sure she did

That's why she told the audience "My name is Karen Gillan and I play Amy Pond"

she was being herself, and before you start, there is a world of difference between Karen and Amy. Amy is a bigger flirt, and can have a pretty nasty attitude when roused. Karen, on the other hand, seems pleasant, and more like a light-hearted friend (albeit one prone to giggling )

Actors don't have to act 24/7. They have a life, you know, and don't have to act when in front of the camera
