It is the NFL. The NFL have had since February to get a deal for the season and have not. It is truly pathetic but I believe they can not finalise a deal until all parties are signed up. Obviously ESPNA thought a deal would be in place but as Sky have not agreed terms then I take it nobody else can. Probably another 2 weeks....just hope the NFl put a long term deal in place like ESPNA has in Europe until 2021.

NHL extension of 4 years on Premier Sports is the biggest joke I have heard. There video Stream is not great let alone HD. They don't have intermissions for the majority of the games. There HNIC coverage was terrible at start with no intermissions, then they did add Hockey Tonight and intermissions which was fantastic despite poor PQ. Then nearing playoffs they had no intermissions again for HNIC and showed the Playoffs and Final on the terrible International feed from NBC compared to ESPN'S choice of CBC-HD. I am really disappointed this is a step backwards.

Been watching Micelle Beadle on NBCs Olympic overage. She is doing a great job. So needed to leave ESPN and expand her horizons as also being doing well on her Hollywood show too.

Are you ready for some football...!

Early season ESPNA College Football games listed on their website, starting eve Thur. 31 August, with some conference previews before that.

Good news/bad news...

The CBS Navy/Notre Dame game from Dublin is live on Sat. 1st Sept. at 2pm UK time, but it looks like as a result we will miss the opening College Gameday.

Tough one as it's an historic game, but I think my vote would of gone for showing CG live, with the N/ND game shown as live on Sunday.

Nevertheless, thanks again ESPNA for outstanding College Football coverage.

I thought these are off because of the Olympics so will be back next week ?

On College Football would always prefer a live game over the studio shows especially if pre midnight UK time.

Is there a college football online option like NFL, MLB or NHL ? Or with the various conferences that would not work ? Only really watch CFL and MLB so looking at cheaper options.

No, NFL has delayed the sale of its tv rights until sometime this month, so ESPNA no longer have rights on certain shows to NFL clips... until the NFL finalises the rights process

A studio programme, yes, I would agree, but (even allowing for the fact that College Gameday is outside on campus)...describing CG as merely a studio show is a bit like calling Usain Bolt a runner!

Fowler, Herbstreit, Corso, Holtz, May, Davis etc. has to be one of the best/strongest/most entertaining line-ups that any sport can boast for pre-game shows imo. Add in the atmosphere of the campus fans/guest picks/Corso's head gear/reports from around the stadiums etc. it's the perfect set-up for the day's matchups, and for me it's one of the best programmes on ESPNA, including the live sport. (My only reservation is I would have left it at 2 hours instead of increasing to 3.)

And this is the opening Saturday of the season we are talking about!

It's only the historic nature of the NotreDame/Navy game being played in Dublin that makes it of special interest beyond the fans of those 2 teams, and the fact that with a 2pm kick-off UK time it will be the only game on that early - an unprecedented 9am Eastern, 8am Central - so an early watch for the home ND fans, and 6am in California.

Bearing in mind we get 7-12 live/as-live games per week, I'd take CG.

It would have been interesting if ESPNA had done a viewers choice - the ND game against CG. I know there are a lot of ND fans, but the outcome would of been interesting!

I hope CBS send the excellent Verne L./Gary D. to commentate and not their other awful pairing with Steve Beuerlein.

Providing I can get tickets whilst I'm out in USA, I'm hoping to get to my first couple of College football games at Nebraska and Iowa in September, plus an NFL game at St. Louis Rams. The Rams were in LA back when I lived in USA for 5 years and saw them play on my travels around the NFL stadiums.

I love College Gameday but live sport has to come first. Luckily I'll just record it on SlingPlayer and watch it later in the day. I really want to see what they say about Penn State.

Also no surprise Penn State will be the 5PM game on opening Saturday although we are playing Ohio not Ohio State.

I never watch the 2-3 hour of College Football as they repeat everything during the main show anyway. So I'd watch from 2-2:05 when Chris went through the headlines and then come back at 3 with that iconic music. Have they announced who'll host now Erin Andrews has gone to FOX?

For those who relied on SC for US sports news; Dwight Howard has been traded to the Lakers.

Just had a look at the schedules:

Notre Dame v Navy live.

Way too much LLWS for my taste (about 27 out of the 30 games shown live).

Why? It still does not reduce the stipulated number of MLB games that will be shown. We will still get the same amount of MLB games, with or without LLWS.

I think if you read correctly, he says 'way too much for his taste'.

Personally i quite enjoy LLWS but we are all different, i also don't watch or enjoy ESPNA as much as i used to after the loss of NHL last season, but i know i may be in the minority.

Am looking forward to college football however, hope that makes me watch ESPNA more, i am sure it will.

We are all different, it probably would help me, if i wasn't as interested in other sports as much as i am, what with the US PGA, Olympics (which have been brill for me) and start of the football season to name but a few.

I don't mind the LLWS if i'm on my laptop and there's nothing else on.

Except that we are coming to a crucial point in the season and showing so many live LLWS games means that certain series which would usually have been featured will now have no coverage.

If i was in charge of the schedule i would pencil in live LLWS around MLB coverage (with all games to shown on delay) with only the last two days guaranteed to be shown live.

I think this is missing the point, it isn't the fact that we still get the same number of MLB games across the season, it's the fact we are bombarded with LLWS where they could be showing crucial MLB action in the same timeslots.

It's an important time of year for MLB, I'd sooner they showed 27 games through this August period instead of LLWS and just showed 27 less games during the April-June stretch. Thereby still showing the same number of games over the season, just showing more of it's allowance at the business end of the season.

Does anyone know why we don't get ESPN America on Sky Go when we get the standard ESPN channel ? Would be great to watch on my IPad when travelling.

Because lots of the sports they show have their own streaming services. NFL, MLB and college football/basketball games are all available to watch via Game Pass, MLB.TV and ESPN College Pass respectively.

But that's nothing to do with TV. Sky show NFL on SkyGO and actually get their live games and redbone stopped on the. NFL stream in the UK. ESPN could easily do the same. It is just ripping of their subscribers.

Eurosport saw the light as they used to charge for their streaming service but is now free on SkyGo.

Little League World Series has been great... Loved the Ugandan team and tonight's action was good.

Next year I hope ESPNA continue such but they could perhaps not show the consolation games live but delayed and maybe show some MLB.

Anyway looking forward to all the college football coming our way...

Picture quality on HD channel has def been tweaked last few months as best its been at the mo.

I used to worry, but it's run close too many times for me to worry anymore. It'll be sorted. Probably the usual case of already sorted but just waiting for all parties to announce.

I just switched on ESPN America for the first time in a while and I'm shocked... no Sportscenter? Along with the other shows that somebody else mentioned above, I'm genuinely shocked at the decline. Seems like ESPN American in Europe is locking down rights but in the UK they're letting the channel fall apart - when you think that here there is only MLB and college football left, really. Sad.

So nothing surprises me, even that the NFL - who want a franchise here, supposedly - still haven't sorted out who is showing it this season.
