HDR-FOX-T2 series link repeats query

I have encountered a little problem with the series link, or maybe it is meant to work like that, or maybe the box messed up...

My wife asked me to record One Tree hill for her, so I got her to find it in the epg and then click to record it. up came the series link question and I said for her to click yes, record the series. I confidently told her it would now record every episode of OTH whenever it was broadcast in the future (that was my understanding of how it worked).

But it didn't record tonight's episode

As I understand it, the program is shown on Monday nights and repeated the next Sunday. So the first program in my series link was a repeat, and the one it missed was a new episode.

So from this I guess that the first episode in a series link must be the first showing, and not a repeat? Is this how it is meant to work? If so, not very user-friendly

Or is it just a plain old missed recording, and the first showing/repeat thing is clouding the issue?

Thanks for your help, Chris.

I think it is simply that you have Series Linked the repeat showing which will be a different Series Link to that of the new episodes. This is the way Series Link should work otherwise you'd be recording each episode and all its repeats. An example I Series Link record is Heartbeat on ITV3, each episode is shown three time a day but I have chosen to Series Link only the lunchtime showing.

Just checked the CRID info.

Tonights showing and Sundays repeat both have the same PROG CRID but different SERIES CRID's.

So what this means is that whatever showing you set the series link up on it will follow that same showing unless there is a 3 way clash on an instance of that recording then depending on what it is clashing with may move the recording for that one instance to the alternative showing.

So yours will record the Sunday repeat unless it determines there is a clash then it may record Monday's first showing for that week only (as long as it determines there will be a clash on Sunday before Mondays showing has been on). To be honest I would play safe and set it for the Monday first showing.

Big-les & richard_g_uk, thanks for the replies, that clears that up.

Just out of interest, how does one find out the CRID's for programs?
