I bought a netbook a few weeks ago.
I bought it thru ebay and a company called Argos Clearance Stores.
It arrived but the webcam didn't work, and after a week or so the wireless card stopped working.
When I received the netbook there was a piece of paper saying all returns to D&J Henry not Argos.
I contacted Argos Clearance Stores thru the ebay dispute centre and said I wanted to return the faulty item for a refund and I only wanted to deal with the vendor Argos Clearance Stores.
They replied straight away saying no refund contact our repair specialists D&J Henry.
They then closed the dispute.
Usually and according to UK consumer law you buy and item from company A and if faulty you return to company A for a refund.
I paid by Paypal so opened a dispute thru Paypal and they send an email to Argos Clearance Stores with the same message "I want a refund, no repair or replacement on a faulty netbook which arrived less than two weeks ago and I wanted to deal with the vendor only".
Same reply contact D&J Henry.
That dispute via Paypal is open at the moment.
Paypal have contacted me and said that I am correct I should only have to deal with the vendor Argos Clearance Stores and no third parties.
Nevertheless I have finally so as to get my refund quickly, sent the item back to D&J Henry as Argos would not give me an Argos address to send the item back to.
I sent Royal Mail special delivery and tracked it and they received and signed for it last Friday.
In the past I have always returned the item to the vendor,so if I bought something from Amazon and it was faulty then it went back to Amazon and they arranged to have it checked not me.
My contract to buy is with Argos.
Is this a new thing with companies getting the customer to do the donkey work in contravention of UK consumer law and making the customer send the item back to a company that does repairs and refurbishment ??????
