Samsung LCD TV and NTSC?
First of all, Hi to everyone on this Forum!!
I have the above mentioned 32" TV All is great with it except when I try and play a region 1 Disc! (My DVD Player is Region Free) I can hear sound but no picture and all the connections are properly in, I have no problem with Region 2 Discs! I am connected up Via Scart and the DVD Player is NOT HDMI one. Please help and thanks in advance Cheers Renniks |

Will the TV not accept 60Hz?, presumably the region 1 discs will play at 60Hz and not 50Hz.

Got this from the Spec if it helps??
Entire unit requires 100/240V AC with 50/60Hz universal power supply and the peak luminance ratio of the TV is 65%.operating power consumption of the TV is 120 watt and at sleep mode it will be reduced to 0.29w. |

The model of the TV might help, as would a list of supported TV formats (you should find them near to where you found the electrical specifications in the manual).
You could try changing the DVD player's colour mode from composite to RGB if it isn't already on that setting, although i doubt it will make any difference. By the sound of things the TV is rejecting 60Hz signals, which is very unusual. Some DVD players (often the very cheapest ones) have a menu option to convert 60Hz NTSC to 50 Hz PAL - that could be a possible workaround. |

If you have a phono cable to hand, you could try removing the SCART cable and connecting the VIDEO OUT on the DVD player to the VIDEO IN (AV IN) on the TV. This would help to rule out SCART as a cause of NTSC compatibility problems.
You could also try component cable, acquire an HDMI equipped DVD player, enable RGB over SCART (as suggested above) or if necessary send the TV in for repair. |

Would be very odd for a tv not to accept NTSC.
Go into the dvd player settings and check the video outputs. If its set to PAL change it to AUTO. Maybe it will only take pure NTSC. Of course if its already on AUTO try PAL. Seems more likely that the tv simply won't accept the dvd output at its current settings |

Tried the RGB Settings in The DVD Player no joy
![]() I cannot understand why a modern TV is not able to handle a Region 1 DVD! The DVD Player is about at least 3 years old. Would that be a problem, and it has no HDMI sockets on it! Thanks for all your replies up to now! Renniks |

If it doesn't say multiregion it won't be multiregion but Richer Sounds always sell MR gear so you should get one for about £10 over the usual price - just maybe not this model.
Check before purchase |
