Humax vs. Bush

Hi all - I posted this in the wrong thread originally, I think, so here goes:

Radioandtelly.co.uk states that the Humax PVR9300T 320Gb box is highly recommended, constantly rated very highly by its users.

I bought the Bush 500Gb DTR which only has one review on the Argos page (5 stars, but then 1 review isn't perhaps the best spread of opinions!)

The Humax is £40 more expensive, but comes so highly recommended I wonder whether it may be better to take my Bush back and swap it.

The Humax gets 41 1-star ratings on Amazon, for freezing etc - but I would have thought that would all be sorted out by now, with firmware upgrades etc.

The Humax, I read somewhere, allows recording of 2 channels whilst allowing you to watch a third, though I can't see that in the official descriptions on the websites.

And the Humax has 2 scart connections, the Bush only has one, which means I've sent off for a scart splitter so I can connect my DVD player at the same time as the Bush to my TV.

£40 sounds a lot, but then the Bush is reduced by £20 from its original price, so they're probably meant to be similarly priced/able boxes.

Plus the Bush has an extra 180 Gb HDD.

Hmmm - what to do.

Question is - do we have any forumites with experience of these boxes? All opinions welcome.

I should add that the Humax on Amazon, despite 41 x 1-star ratings actually gets 230+ ratings of 4- or 5-stars (141 x 5-star, 90 x 4-star).

And on Argos it's been reviewed by well over 100 people, and gets virtually 5 stars out of 5.

Cheers

All humax twin tuner pvrs give you 3rd channel viewing while recording two (including the freesat ones).

The tuners used can demux two channels from the same mux at the same time.

This means

1 recording two from the same mux means you can also watch any third channel

2 recording two from different mux, you can view any channel sharing a mux with either recording.

Topfield pvrs can pull also do the same

The 9300 with a 500GB disk is available from Humax direct for £219, does that make the decision easier???

I've swapped the Bush for the Humax 320Gb version, £40 more but from what I've heard overall I think it is the best thing to do.

I think 320Gb should be enough, a max of 200 hrs of recording time should be enough (more than enough) for my needs.

The 41 x 1-star ratings on Amazon bug me a little bit, but I'm assuming (and hoping) that they were people who needed newer software/firmware installed.

That's my story, anyway...
