EasiYo Yoghurt

Just bought myself one of the EasiYo Yoghurt makers.

These are supposed to be used with packets of Yoghurt mix which you add to water.

I'm sure I've seen somewhere that you can make new yoghurt using a spoonful of live yoghurt to start things off.

Does anyone know if you can use the EasiYo kit like this?

Yes, you can. You should take precautions with the milk and yoghurt that you use though as you don't want to be culturing any bacteria likely to cause illness.

Dazer. EasiYo is totally different to "normal" yoghurt makers - which require you to "start" milk with a live culture then keep heated for a period in a machine. They use a powder mix (containing the cultures in a "sleep" type state) which you add to cold water, shake, then put the container in a kind of thermos type device with boiling water and leave for 12 hours or so.

Pinot_noir. It's nothing like "normal" yogurt making with milk and cultures and stuff - hence "Easi" Yo !!

I've just got one of the Easiyo yoghurt makers and made my first batch overnight. I was a bit worried it might be too tart or just not like proper yoghurt but I have to say it is delicious!
I have only made a plain batch but that is just what I want to put on my home made granola in the mornings.
Now I just have to research where the cheapest retailer of the powders are - I can't afford to buy more from Lakeland!

Easiyo yogurt is fine but you can't make home made yogurts in the container, you can however I believe make it in a vacuum flask but not done that myself so not 100% sure how you go about it.
