When did I ever claim to know anything about dancing? I was going on what I personally saw as I watched the dance. I am able to watch the show with a critical eye, but I am certainly not a trained dancer and don't claim to be.

And how dare you accuse me of mocking you! Katie and I, in the couple of posts in jest, were talking directly to one another, as we have a long-standing disagreement over certain pros that we don't let get in the way of discussion. What we have been trying to say all along is that people can have any opinion they like on here, it's a place for discussion. I don't see how anything said could be offensive, but I'm sorry if anything I have said could be misinterpreted beyond its intended meaning.

I've said on many occasions that I don't know anything about dancing. I don't think you should brush me aside as someone who 'clearly thinks they know everything about dancing' just because I disagreed with you. There wasn't anything in my post to suggest that I think anything of the kind.

I'm sorry if my opinion offended you.

Edit: I didn't intend my joke with Mystical to come across as mocking... We genuinely do disagree all the time, I was just having a bit of fun.

I never claimed to know what she was thinking (I'm not psychic, didn't realise you had to be to reply on here!). Surmising, as I have done all along, implies that one doesn't actually know the answer.

Clearly a reference to my previous post.

This is all getting silly now, I'm leaving before I cause anymore friction.

I'm sorry if you thought that referred to you specifically. For my part, my reply was intended in jest to Katie alone as a reference to our long-running disagreement over said pros, and a display of the fact that we don't let our different opinions stop us from having a discussion.

The only friction was over the lack of tolerance for debate in this thread, but seeing as we've debated said lack of tolerance for the past hour, I think the issue's been overcome

If anyone wants to go back to discussing Anton & Ann, has anyone read the piece in the Telegraph where Anton taught a journalist to dance and said Ann was better at the waltz than the journalist was?! She must be doing something right (or else that journalist was really quite bad!)

I honestly didn't mean it to mock you, and I'm sorry if it came across that way. I can see it must have looked a bit like that, but I was just having a joke with Mystical as we both know neither of us will ever change our opinions on the relevant merits of the Jordans and the Bennetts.

I do wonder how they're going to cope with that height difference in ballroom though.

I do wonder if she might wear slightly higher heels once she's used to dancing in them....although there may be medical reasons preventing her from doing so. I think they'll just have to try an unconventional ballroom hold. Ola's not going to be able to do a perfect ballroom hold with Paul either, she's taller than him.

I'm sure both katie_p and Mystical do know more than me about dancing, but I personally enjoy watching what they think is not up to standard.

I'm also not stupid and know when I'm being mocked, so I think I'll be staying away from wherever you two are posting from now on.

Miso, thank you.”

You're welcome
and really, don't feel you have to stop posting in anywhere on the forum

The height difference between Ola and Paul is nowhere near significant enough to affect their ballroom hold. The woman's posture should be self supportive (not dependent on the man) and Paul's placement of hands would not be greatly affected by Ola being ever so slightly taller. Besides their shoulder height is similar which makes it even less of a problem.

The difference between Ann and Anton is of course much more significant and therefore a problem.

If she can wear heals and can hold her own frame/ doesn't mind stretching, they ought to be able to manage, just about. I'm 5'4'' (so 5'6 1/2" in two and a half inch heels) and used to dance fairly regularly at uni with a male friend who was 6'2''. I don't say it was especially comfortable and I had to be pretty upright, but it was possible. I'm not sure of the height difference between Anton and Ann but I'm sure Anton will know ways of fudging the hold so it's not too uncomfortable for Ann and it looks reasonable.

You are welcome to like who you like, just as much as others are welcome to dislike who they like....

In some respects I think Anton has the best partner possible. The odds on them winning are not good ,but Anne & Anton have the capacity to capture the publics imagination. They could end up being heroes and the stars of the show. Good luck to 'em, in say.
