Well done to Adam on topping the Billboard charts - Trespassing is #1

On the Charts: Adam Lambert Makes History

A lurker here!

I am thrilled - a huge congratulations to Adam for not only retaining his fan-base but expanding it. It's one heck of an album - he should be proud. A second album is notoriously difficult, especially when the artist has to make it on his own merits and not from the hype of AI, and I wasn't sure how it would do. I should have had more faith!

Unfortunately, I cannot agree. Don't get me wrong, I think Adam Lambert is an exceptional performer, with one of the best voices of his generation. But, the second album is very, very disappointing.

There are a couple of standout tracks which are acceptable, but nothing that really equals his talent. I had hoped and expected to get an album of songs as good as 'Whaddya Want From Me'. Be they written by himself or other peeps. What I got, was overproduced gay disco, more often than not with his voice too far back in the mix, and songs that simply were not memorable. Where are the great hook lines, where are the great guitar or synth solos? Where are the ideas?

I think he's got one more chance to deliver, and if he can't or won't make an album something like Aladdin Sane for today, then this very bright star may burn out.

Welcome to the thread nathanbrazil Sorry to hear you're disappointed with the album, maybe something he does in the future will be more to your taste.

Personally I love the direction that Adam's taken with Trespassing, but it would be a dull world if we all agreed all the time!

"Something like Aladdin Sane" - well, that's a very tall order! I'm not some diehard fan where I think everything he does is wonderful and at first listen. I was a little perturbed by there being so many dance-heavy songs which - I thought - did nothing to show off his vocals.

However, the more I listen, the more songs emerge that I am falling in love with. "Take Back" for example - "Broken English" - "Runnin'" as well as the two songs released as singles. The stand-out song for me is "Undrneath" - but there is a lot to discover on the album. I like the way he is taking risks and a slightly different direction: he isn't sitting back and playing safe with the same old sounds, comfortable as that would have been

Some nice UK press for Adam today

The Guardian - New music: Adam Lambert – Never Close Our Eyes

And the Mirror - Adam Lambert makes history and releases new music video in the same week - not bad for a runner-up, is it?

Lots of Canadian promo happening as well, too much to keep up with but there's a great video here of him on the Marilyn Denis Show

There's an interview with Adam in the Metro today, more great UK press

It's great to see the UK coverage is adding up. I wouldn't mind joining in more Adam discussion, especially about the album and of course the forthcoming Queen gig (which I'm going to!!). I guess he has an online fansite?

The press has been great so far Which night are you going to Queen?

Have you seen Adam's official website? There's a forum there that's quite busy http://www.adamofficial.com/uk/home

And there's also an official fanclub site, although you have to be a member http://adamlambertfans.com/

There are also couple of unofficial UK fansites:

This one originally grew from this thread here on DS back when Adam was on Idol http://thelambrits.co.uk/blog/

And there's another here as well http://www.adamlambertuk.com/

A lot of chat and news sharing happens on Twitter though really, if you're a tweeter?

Excellent news about Graham Norton. Really pleased that he's going to be performing as well

Don't even mention volcanoes!! The weather has already taken a turn for the worse now that he's on his way

Welcome to DS and to the thread Acolyte

Oh thank you - that is just the sort of advice I need! I have to have someone I can share my fangirly passion with (about his music that is). I'm not on twitter although I keep thinking I ought to get round to it..

I am very excited about him appearing on Graham Norton, in fact I can hardly sit still long enough to type this. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he cracked the UK? I know, I know...it's a tough market but still...we can dream...

Thank you again for all the links!

Edit: I just noticed your question! I'm going to see Queen and Adam on the 11th July

I think that's a dream we all share abigail, keeping everything crossed for a good response in the UK this time round
