Help needed - mp3 player suddenly not recognised.
Love Bear

Hello all.

I have a little problem with an mp3 player. It has suddenly become unrecgonisable by both of my computers. I have been into device manager and tried to update the driver from there but it just comes up as an unknown device and says there are no more drivers needing updating etc. I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, unplugging, rebooting - you name it, I've tried it. I have reran the disc it came with and still no joy.

The fact that neither computer is recognising it suggests that the problem lies with the player (it's only a cheap Logik thing but barely two months old) but what could that problem be? Any ideas? I daren't reset it or reformat it in case it is still unrecognisable and I can't get the songs back on it.

It's working fine otherwise, plays ok etc.

Would be grateful for any help. Thank you.

i have had this problem with a couple of our MP3 players. Google to device name and found how how to reset to factory type setting. Then reconnect and all should be good.

Cheers for replying. I thought about this but was a bit concerned that it would still be unrecognisable after which would leave me with an empty player.

Does it definitely work? Sounds a bit risky to me. It's actually my daughter's player and it would be more than my life's worth if there was no way of getting the songs back on it!

Is it working properly as a player? What brand/model is it? What would you need to install/remove? If you have any older restore points, I'd try to restore your PC back, maybe it's some update that interferes? Not very likely, but you never know.

dont restore the PC ! reset the MP3 player. If you loose the music does it matter at the moment the player is not working properly. When i have rest ours the music has remained there.

Ok. I tried reseting back to factory and no joy.

Also, have done system restore on the pc, was one of the first things I did. The fact that my other computer didn't recognise it either makes it obvious that the problem lies with the player.

Thanks both for your help but am now truly lost!

its daft but try blowing in usb port to clear out any crud that may be preventing connection.

That's not the problem. It recognises everything else using the same lead!

Thanks though.

No, the MP3 player, maybe that connector is dodgy.

No joy there either.

It's a Logik L2GMP409. I have the instruction disc - it's about as much use as a chocolate tea pot!

Logik breaks down easy. I don't know why they sell them.

Are you using the usb lead suppliedwith the player?
My iPhone is very fussy about the cable being used. Long cables will charge but not sync....

Not a happy bunny.

Friend of husband's came round this morning, he's a bit clued up on computers etc. Turns out that one of the pins was bent inside of the usb port on the player. Bloody Logik! Shouldn't think I'll stand much chance of getting a refund either. Pah!

I feel a bit of an idiot now, can't believe I didn't look properly at the port as it is now obvious there is a pin missing!

Thank you all so much for helping. x
