I've recently been having troubles with my digital TV reception in a second room (ITV, 4, FIVE, etc are gone after about 5pm), and after a day of troubleshooting have managed to find the issue (by chance noticed that the wire in one of the "diy" connectors wasn't reaching the "tip" of the connector as was the case with other such connectors).

Having fixed this, I re-scanned my Samsung TV which instantly found every channel without issue (hurrah). So I then proceeded to rescan my Humax 9200T which found all correctly, except Film 4 and some others that are stuck in the 800 range of channels and don't work at all. Film 4 was one channel that worked fine most of the time prior to fixing the connection.

I have tried auto-scan, manually scanning each mux, deleting the channel list manually, doing a factory reset, ensuring no channels are assigned to 15, etc... whatever I do, Film 4 remains in the 800 ranges and won't work.

It works fine on the TV, and worked fine prior to fixing the connection on the Humax... only now has it stopped working, when everything else has started working.

Any ideas?

You have improved the signal so much the tuner is now getting more than 1 transmitter. Delete all your channels and manually tune each of your local transmitters mux in turn (6 pre dso 5 if post dso)

Whatever you think you are doing you are obviously not doing it correctly otherwise Film 4 would not be in the 800s, try my Manual Search instructions.


The reason for doing a Manual Search is to target the six (five after DSO) multiplexes coming only from your preferred transmitter. The UHF channel numbers for your six/five multiplexes (digital channels) from your preferred transmitter can be obtained from the digitaluk web-site, enter your post code and also tick the "I am in the aerial installation trade" box. Your UHF channel numbers are in the grey columns in the Coverage prediction section. The compass bearing for the available transmitters at your address are also shown so you can check to see which transmitter your aerial is actually pointing at. You should only use the transmitter that your aerial is pointing at.

First you need to delete all existing channels.
Menu > Edit Channels > Edit Channel Lists > Password (0000) and delete all TV channels, note there is a Select All button. Go to Group, select Radio and delete all the radio channels. Press Exit on the remote control and when invited save all the changes.

You will now get a message saying No channels are available……, press OK. You should now be taken to the Installation menu, choose Manual Search. Select the first UHF channel number obtained from the digitaluk web-site for Channel (actually the order doesn’t matter) and press Search. When the search completes, Save. Select the next UHF channel number for Channel and press Search.....Save. Repeat this for all six/five UHF channel numbers and to finish press the Exit button. You will now find all your Freeview channels on their correct numbers with none in the 800 range. Good luck.

That seems to have got it. I think one of the numbers I found earlier was wrong... have been trying 57 (correctly) for Film 4 all day, but one or two of the others I found via the Digital UK site you linked were different. It all seems ok now (pending the connector holding together).

No problem, glad it helped because incorrect tuning causes all sorts of problems with the Freeview+ features as well as having channels in the wrong place.
