She has a look of utter regret in her profile picture and the short clip on the BBC website doesnt seem to show her in a good light. This is going to be hilarious.

Well she was on BBC breakfast this morning and she seemed well up for it.

I must admit she didn't look very happy on the red carpet tonight. I hope she isn't regretting it.

Frankly - probably less than I'm regretting her signing up!

No, I've decided I'm going to be nice - she doesn't look terribly enthusiastic but I'd wager she's probably more nervous than she's letting on.

I think it could be a case of nerves too Zan. She may be a public figure, but I doubt she walks down many red carpets. I wondered if seeing how good the other female celebs look in their costumes might be hard for her - especially all together in public like that. They all seem to know how to pose for the camera.

I think she might be.

All of the others are from the entertainment/sports field and therefore more at home, I would expect.

She's the only one of this year's female celebs who isn't (or in Pamela's case, hasn't been) a performer, too. I don't like Ann, but I can't believe that she hasn't got some major nerves at the moment (or indeed when the photo was taken).

There are comments on twitter about the celeb group dance from Tom Latchem (theboylatch) who evidently is a Bio News of the World TV Reporter. I quote:

"Just seen the first celebs group dance. Absolutely bloody hilarious - Anne Widdecombe is gonna be a star!"

Paul Daniels is another one who doesn't seem all that impressed with SCD. He doesn't take very kindly to criticism or being told what to do .

Eek! Not sure I want the dances to be hilarious, to be honest...

Oh well, shall try and give her a fair go, anyway. It's only a telly programme, Zan!

Once we've seen her dance once I think we'll know straight away one way or the other. The media can be so cruel and it is her choice to do the show.

She is an entertaining speaker, but not sure how she will be in this; hope people don't laugh at her.

Well just to worry you even more there is another tweet which says:

Peter Shiltin (sic) and Paul Daniels with some excellent dad dancing. Reckon this series could be a stonker!

If she gets a masive public sympathy vote like John Sergeant she could win but John was funny also. Ann doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humour.

Trust me she does. A one, that at times can be a bit sarcastic but she does have humour in her. Watch her on BBC Breakfast this morning. She's great!

I reckon she'll enjoy it.

That might be pretty inevitable.

If she gets into the spirit of it in the sense of "a gumptious old Brit giving it a go" people will really warm to her. John Seargant was pretty rubbish as a dancer but he was really enjoying himself and it showed!

I think Anne is realising what a media storm shes kicking up and is v nervous... understandably.

I just hope she relaxes and enjoys it!

Her first dance is the Rumba!

Did you know, I had an idea that it could be...if this last comment is right, of course.

I just had a sneaking suspicion they'd give her it.

I think she will take it all in good spirit....she said on breakfast this morning that she is the Pantomime element this year so I dont think for one moment she doesnt know what its going to be like and if she knows her own mind she wouldnt have agreed if she wasnt fully up for it. However when you are faced with people looking at you on a red carpet wearing a dress you would probably not normally be seen dead in, I expect the nerves kicked in a bit.

She does - and it is very dry! She was brilliant on Have I Got News For You - full of good fun!
