I am looking forward to Anne vs Craig but not really looking forward to the dancing. Think Craig may meet his match this year!!!

She's been on HIGNFY a few times and she seems to get on very well with Paul Merton and Ian Hislop. She gives as good as she gets and they obviously respect her. But then, she has a dry, sarcastic sense of humour there, which suits HIGNFY - not sure it'll go down so well on Strictly.

Well having met the lady when I applied for a job as her constituency secretary - I think she's an absolute hoot! Given her age, size and shape I'm surprised she chose to sign up for this show, but I for one can't wait to see Craig get cut down to size if he starts on her!

She is absolutely tiny but she really does have a larger than life personality and she seemed like great fun (really wicked sense of humour!)..... alas I didn't get the job - but I think I would have enjoyed working with her.

I'm not sure if she will argue with Craig. She said during the launch show that much worse happens in the world than being criticised by a Dancing judge.

Ann is a great survivor, not good in front of camera, but in the political world has survived more cruel jibes than Craig has had hot dinners. She will apply herself better in a restricted area - she's not a crowd person - and I bet that Anton will find her more fun than Esther Rantzen and more intelligent than any of his previous partners. Anton is a true gentleman (as confirmed by past partner Lesley Garrett, forget the floppy Laila) and the two of them should enjoy the training even if she doesn't like the shows. And they will get on even better if the camera teams and mikes are sent away.
I noticed that Anton was wearing cuban heels tonight - he might have been led to expect a taller partner, or he might have guessed from the outset that he would be partnering this particular lady and added the extra height for fun. NB He's strong and fit enough to lift her;

I was looking forward to seeing her because of course I thought she would be awful and it would be hilarious. She was awful but it's not so hilarious. I ended up feeling bad for her and I never, ever would have thought that would be my reaction. But then I thought, she must have known it so why sign up? But still, it's going to make for some horrifically embarrassing telly. I just don't know if that's good or bad lol.

A job for a strong stomach.

Most of the time she looked like she knew it too... that why I said it would be kinder to put her down.

She's smart imo.

They pay her a huge fee. She takes it and puts it in the bank.

The sooner she's out the sooner she gets to spend it.

The last time she was on she vowed never to do so again.

Anton is very media savvy: he knows that dancing with her will get him far more publicity than he would have attracted with any other partner, it'll restore much of his popularity after last year's 'problems,' and it'll help his TV career considerably. I suspect he would have been gutted if he HADN'T got her.

I thought that too. It was just like team-picking. They really shoudn't have left Anne till last. I suppose they went for the laughs though and Anton handled it well. Were you sitting quite close?

I think he also knows that he hadn't got a cat in hell's chance of actually ever winning SCD - let's be brutally honest here, his Latin sucks - so he might as well be the comedy act and play it for laughs.

Of all of the pros he will handle her best. The others would have just sulked and had hissy fits

I think once she does a couple of shows and realises people are voting for then there will be no stopping her

Might we have to storm the set?

If we do can I wear sequins?

I hope not; looks like she knows what she's in for, and won't be put off by a couple of judge's comments! Looking forward to see her partnership with Anton

Have I got news for you.

In fairness in the last episode she hosted, Jimmy Carr was on and spent the whole night trying to provoke her with lewd sex jokes making the whole panel and the audience uncomfortable but she never gave him the satisfaction of reacting to it[ Jimmy Carr has not appeared on since]

I would say any guest presenter would not have returned to HIGNFY if they were subjected to that. [and trust me Jimmy Carr crossed the line that night. The extended repeat is unwatchable]

Craig is panto really and would never cross over the line which Jimmy Carr did, Craig knows the limit.

On appearances before her last HIGNFY she freely poked fun at herself with jokes far more cutting than any barbs Craig's or Bruno's could muster.

Ann isn't stupid she knows exactly what shes signed up for.

Makes you wonder how much material they had to record that night to get a broadcastable (sp?) show. Went right off Jimmy Carr.

Don't know about that one but some can take over 2 hours

True, Kristina was very lucky to get JS and it did no end to boost her profile and stay on SCD.
