Hi, I just got a samsung LCD series 5 TV with built in freeview HD tuner but can't seem to get any of the HD channels when I tune it in, every other freeview channel is there, I've got the co axial cable going from the wall to a signal booster then to the TV, it's just a cheap booster though should I get a better one?

Series 5? Don't they predate Freeview HD? What is the model number?

It's a samsung LE46C580, it does say it has a freeview HD tuner built in but I can't seem to get any, I live in a flat so I'm a bit worried that it may be the aerial as the factors are knobs so it would be murder trying to get it upgraded.

Does your local transmitter actually broadcast the service?

I've checked the freeview website and I should be receiving BBC HD, ITV HD and channel 4 HD.

Stick your post code into the Digital UK checker and tick the "I'm in the aerial trade" box. This will give you far more detail than the basic Freeview checker.

It should highlight if there are any alternative transmitters you could receive and the likely chances of receiving any particular mux. There is always the possibility that the aerial is pointing at the "wrong" transmitter which does not do HD yet.

If your TV can display what UHF channel numbers you are receiving the various muxes on, that will let you narrow down the actual transmitter.

Communal installations often have filters that stop channels other than the ones from your local transmitter entering the system. Addition of the HD mux may require the unblocking of the uhf channel used for HD in your area. The OP will have to contact his building management
