ASDA Mobile's new unlimited tariff
Appleseed
09-09-2010
For £25.

Unlimited calls and texts - web not included.

When they say unlimited, what the actually mean is 2000 mins and 2000 texts.
Good value for £25 though.

I think it's over-priced and misleading.

For £30, giffgaff offer genuinely unlimited calls, texts and Internet.

That means, you could chat to your friend all day, while surfing the Internet on your mobile (all day) and not have to worry about be reaching a limit.*

* not unlimited

You could be talking on the phone, or using the web but not both at once surely?

Anyway, what's misleading about it? Using the word 'unlimited' when there are limits?
That's commonplace these days. I thinks the word should only be used if something IS unlimited but there you go.

Speakerphone? Headset?

It's very easy to do.

What I was getting at was it's highly unlikely, not that it isn't possible to do.

The point of my OP was simply giving a heads up.

Actually you can't do both at the same time, if your talking over the phone you can't use 3G internet at the same time.

Incorrect. On 3G you can do both - I regularly get email pinging through my iPhone when I am on a call in 3G.

On 2G, you can do one or the other, not both.

Oh, do some networks switch to GPRS for calls? cause I can't use Mobile Internet when in a call, and neither can my boyfriend. I'm on Vodafone and he's on O2.

It is fraud as far as I am concerned in that it is simply designed to mislead.

Some networks will switch you to 2G when you make a phone call (O2 and Vodafone like you've listed AFAIK), but not all of them do.

That will be why I asumed this... anyone know why they don't use 3G for calls?

You've put your girlfriend on hold so you can post here?

No company should be able to use the word Unlimited unless it is.

It's partly a network capacity thing and also helps battery life.

If it included say 200mb web it would be good value. Personally I could live with a 2000 minute limit- that's near enough unlimited for me. I don't need the truly unlimited deal of giffgaff.
