Discovered the washing yesterday, although his food and drink are only a couple of inches away!

Queen, I know you're a newbie cat-slave, so I hope you don't mind if I stick my oar in here appropos washing machines: Make sure everybody in your house knows to keep the door closed at all times, and always to check inside before turning it on anyway, especially if they've turned away after loading it. It's a warm and fascinating and FATAL place for kittens. One of my friends lost one this way.

Simba looks so sweet, btw - his little ears! I'd be biting them all day...

You're not sticking your oar Zela, it's only me that does the washing, so yes, I'm very aware of washing machines, he can't reach the tumble dryer as it's at the top of the washing machine, wires etc.

sooo cute, why's he/she called uglybug?!
Hmm that`s what my mum calls him - he does have huge ears, and bulging eyes according to her

He is certainly not a pretty kitten but he`s full of it and has us in fits of laughter watching him .

His latest trick is to smack his paw into his water bowl until it`s all over the floor and then he licks it up!!

hehe our new Kitten was almost 'Harley' but as we have a Floyd the dog, we decided to stay with the music theme and went for 'Hendrix'

Hendrix is cute. I'm pleased you've got another cat, I remember when poor Charlie died - cats leave a gaping hole in our lives when they're gone.

Thanks, I have bowed to pressure from the rest of the family and a compromise has been reached and, after lengthy negotiations, Hendrix is now "Jimi" or "Jim" for short, although his FULL name is James Marshall Hendrix hehe,

He has been busy exploring his new home today, and after establishing just WHO is boss with our dog 'Floyd' they have had their first supervised 'play' together, looks like the start of a great friendship,

I like his name. Are you going to let him out eventually given what happened to Charlie? If yes, please could you add your tuppence worth to the indoor/outdoor debate raging on the other thread 'A dog attacked my cat'.

Aw, I like Hendrix! We did consider the names Otis and Floyd for our cats but didn't do it, but if we get another, we may call it Django.

Well I was told that Hendrix was a 'mouthful' so it's now Jimi or even 'Jim' which will no doubt end up as "Jim lad" hehe, So he has gone from a legendary musician to a one legged pirate over night,

Floyd, our dog ((westie JR cross) really suits his name though, and is already great friends with little Jimi, He is such a good natured dog, he and Charlie, our previous cat, were the best of friends, and it looks like the new guy is going to become a friend as well,

We will certainly be letting him out when he's old enough, We live in a very rural area, for intance just over our back fence is miles and miles of open fields and woods,
We were very unlucky with Charlie, the road outside is very quiet, but Charles was a black cat and it was night time, a one in a million chance,
We realise that getting hit by a car is a risk for all cats,
and I have been in 'that' thread,

I think it's lovely how kittens seem to have no fear. Dogs who are familiar with cats always let the cats be dominant, at least in my experience.

It's great that your pets are getting along so well, they're both lovely.

I agree. We've had our cat much longer than we've had our dog and the cat made sure the dog knew who was boss as soon as he arrived. He's still scared of her and we've had him a year now.

we had our cat Charlie for about 2 years before the dog arrived, and from day one Charles was the boss, our dog was so small as a puppy we were worried that Charlie might hurt him until he got bigger than the cat,

now it's the reverse situation with the new kitten, we are worried that Floyd our dog might hurt the cat by being too boisterous, he wouldn't deliberately hurt him,
But, within half an hour the kitten had firmly let Floyd know who was going to be the boss around here, with a few hisses and a spit or two, now the pecking order has been established they are getting along fine,

Oh how funny! And I'm glad they get along well now.

My cat loves torturing my dog by coming with us when he goes for his little walk down our street. She loves lagging behind us and then being able to do a very long run past him, almost as if she's making fun of the fact that he needs a lead and she doesn't. I think if she could poke her tongue out at him as she does it she would.
