Connecting a Freesat HD receiver to my HD Television
If I connect a Freesat HD receiver to my HD (1080p) Television via SCART, will I be able to watch BBC HD & ITV1HD ?
(The receiver isn't being supplied with an HDMI cable) |

Yes in SD. You can get a HDMI lead from a £0.99 in the cheap shops, even cheaper on-line, so why not just get one.

If it's a Humax Foxsat-HDR recorder box, that too comes with a HDMI cable, and will PREFER to have not just ONE but TWO satellite feeds from a dual+ LNB at your dish (so it can record two totally independent programmes). [If just one feed then do get a F cable to connect the Feed#1 out to the Feed#2 in so you can record two programmes (though limited by there being only one LNB, ie what tuner #1 sets on the LNB will limit the channels available for tuner #2 to exploit). TV is a Freesat HD TV, but the manufacturer's are supplying it's customers with a Freesat HD box due to complications with updating its software within the TV.

With only a single lnb connection you have to transfer the lnb cable from the TV to the set top box and connect it by a hdmi lead to the TV. This means you wont be able to use the Freesat-Hd tuner in the TV but as neither is a recorder it makes no difference.

You connect it via HDMI, which MUST be provided with the box - it's part of the Freesat contract that all HD boxes come with an HDMI lead, if they don't supply you one ask for it - they have to provide it you for free.

What you receive via the set-top receiver will be identical to the TV, unless of course you have the LG LF7700 - which will not have any catchup services such as BBC iplayer, etc... |
