Pfft, a celebration of the music deserves a thread of it's own (in my opinion )

BBC Three 19:00 (i.e. now). Sit back, relax, and enjoy the wonderful tones of Murray Gold and more.

They should have had some shots of the Daleks over this bit from the Planet Suite, it's got that menacing air to it!

Absolutly loved it....the Vincent piece, Gallifrey, Vale Decam, I am the Doctor, Amy's theme...and actually I liked the Dalek and Spitfire this time round more than I did last time...may its a slow burner with me...maybe by the time I get hold of that series 5 CD...it will end up being one of my favs!!!!

I adore that the child just takes it in his stride!! And Matt's reaction to it is brilliant.

Matt was absolutely wonderful with that lad, I've got an 8-year-old who I suspect was a bit envious of him.

And then I had him and his brother fighting over the controller because he kept watching the backstage stuff on the red button..

I hope you made sure that sense prevailed and you now have backstage at the proms on repeat??

Just caught up with this morning, thought Matt Smith was well funny and Karen well gorgeous!!!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that the singer of Vale Decem was a fella! It just didn't sound like one!!! However, listening to my favourite music being performed by the orchestra 'live' so to speak, gave me an enormous thrill, I still love that music even after all these months.

Loved the cheering of all The Doctors, nice to see Colin Baker get a cheer as well!!!!

Aside from Vale Decem and the Theme Music, haven't liked the other music used so much this year compared to previous proms. It's just a personal thing, though I did like the music they played used right at the beginning of the Eleventh Hour.

McCoy and McGann didn't get much in the way of cheers I thought

I though Colin Baker's was muted but he got a cheer nonetheless, and that's what's important!!! Yes, Mccoy and McGann didn't do too well on the cheering but I think Tennant got the big cheer by far!!!

I just kept getting annoyed by the camera work. When there was something worth watching on the monitor, like the regens, they never focused on it. Yet when there were interesting things happening on the actual stage, they always focused on the video clips of the episodes. If I wanted to see them I'd go watch them. I'm watching the proms so I can see what is happening on the stage, when required!

I agree - cutting to episode clips takes one even further away from the auditorium experience.

Medals all round to the actors promenading in full costume! How they avoid tumbles I dont know. The vampires got off lightly.

Gosh I do love live orchestra but have never been a fan of the last night and wouldn't dream of going. The Who prom on the other hand would probably make me jump up and down like a loon. Double standards?

Loved the music, loved the looks on the kids faces.

The actual appearance by The Doctor was toe curlingly awful imho, really low grade children's entertainer stuff. I'd rather they just kept it to a 'video like' style appearance.

But apart from that, absolutely loved it.

Next year's Dr Who Prom - if there be one - will only have half a season to draw on... unless it contains some spoilers to the second half.

I watched the BBC HD version, brilliant. Was there anything in the extended version which would make it worth watching again on iPlayer?

I think it was good, but went on for far too long, the bit where the child says that they could see the invisible wire was priceless though.

Matt did milk it a bit though.

My dad came in just as the soloist was in the middle of Vale Decum and said 'Is that Paul Potts?'

I said 'No, this bloke can sing!'.

Mars and Valkyries? You went to sleep? Blimey. I suffer from insomnia so would appreciate if you could send me some of whatever it is you're smoking.
