Surely, the whole concept of entering a competition is to win it - they are taking the place of perhaps two more able competitors who had at least a viable chance of winning
Anne and Anton are totally mismatched - Anton is far too tall for her”
But only one person can win, anyway,
someone still has to go in week one ... half of the people who sign up to do the show haven't a hope of actually winning - or being last celeb standing at any rate, because it does also depends what the 'winning' is defined as.
For Paul Daniels, probably getting his act back on a prime time Saturday evening tele slot and introducing it to a new market is 'winning' enough. Maybe Ann has a book tour planned and getting promo for that is 'winning'.
The BBC are making an entertainment show which takes the format of a dance competition. What they really want are enough hooks in the early weeks for people to watch. Will people tune in to watch a number of people being passably good or are they more likely to tune in to watch someone being deliciously bad until the better dancers are established?
