Does anyone else get the same response?

Whenever i tell my friends or family to go to Virgin (as they are on O2 mostly) they always say that Virgin is a cheapy network and rubbish! Does anyone else get this when trying to recommend Virgin? It really annoys me as virgin are a really good network!

I wouldn't say that though, just because it's a fairly new network doesn't mean it's any worse than the 4 original networks: Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile & O2.

T-Moble if they are anything like the old one2one is the worst network followed by Virgin and Vodafone.

T-Mobile's pricing has increased since the One 2 One days but i think the service and reliability are better, although i have never had T-Mobile before, only Virgin.

They are not a serious competitor, they only offer PAYG & DD, there are no contracts, their choice of handsets is limited. They have only just introduced GPRS, They dont have photo messaging yet.

They don't actually have their own network, which puts them at the peril of t-mobile, they have no plans for a 3G service. They only re-sell another service, all of their products are designed to appeal to "teenagers" they have cheap texting etc....

Whereas "serious" networks, the emphasis is normally on other things, features I often use which I would loose with Virgin:

Photo messaging
MMS
International roaming (virgin doesn't roam in many countries)
2nd Line
Hold
Contract
My Choice of Handset
Free Minutes (x net anytime)
etc....

There are many more, that other networks have such as personal call answering, call management, etc...

Virgin doesn't have GPRS yet does it? MMS is launching on July 1st but i didn't know anything about GPRS. If i was to go contract i would choose T-Mobile but otherwise, i'm quite happy with prepay with debit card mostly.

Thing is, it isn't a new network! it just re-sells another networks services!

300 Free SMS messages worth £36
300 WAP minutes Worth £30.

This has got to be the best PAYG tarrif.

And there online contract's are great aswell

You no longer receive 300 free wap mins but now only 1mb per month of free wap usage (approx. 150 webpages)

Well I'm not a teenager, nor my friends who on my recommendation are also on Virgin.

They offer excellent value for money, and have excellent customer service.

I have this thing called a mobile PHONE, I use it for making and receiving PHONE calls! I am happy with that!

As for other gimmicks well I'll let others waste their money on crap like that.

MMS does use GPRS, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Virgin with provide an access point for anything other than MMS (i.e. for Port 80 Web/WAP traffic).

Well i enjoyed being with Virgin they had excellent customer service, line was always available never had any problems. The only reason i changed to T Mobile was because i wanted mms and a camera phone V300 which i love. If the Virgin had this phone i would have stayed.

I do recommend it, I think O2 are a big rip off and so expensive for their line rental especially when on a budget but thats my opinion

I think you will find their technical term is now not mobile phone, but simply "mobile", or "mobile communication device". This is because they are no longer just for calls.
They are for

Texts
Calls
Video
Pictures
Personal Diarys
Internet Surfing
WAP
Games
and many more.................

Im on O2 and I hardly ever use it for actually phoning, mainly texting or using the GPRS.

Used to be on one2one, which then got switched over to T-Mobile and the prices shot up with them. On one2one I could make nearly 200 mins of continuous calls for every £10, when they switched over this dropped to 35 mins every £10. I dont regret changing over one bit.

I always found the people at o2 online much nicer than the 0870 number, with less waiting time
