Sony PVR missing recordings!
Digifriendly

Bought the Sony analogue/digital PVR (RDR - DC 100) a couple of months ago but it is both slow to respond to remote control and is missing recordings that have been set for it. It is placed directly underneath a Sky + box and am wondering is this anything to do with its performance or is it simply a faulty box? Any help greatly appreciated.

Both of these devices should have CE marking, which means compliant with EMC so they should work OK in close proximity to each other.

You might want to check the S/W version in your DC100

I owned, for a brief period, a Sony RDR-HXD1070 which had the same problems of missing recordings.

After being messed about by Sony who kept claiming it was the fault of the broadcaster . . . . which is wasn't and then when Sony Labs in Hungary had my machine back to investigate they remove the multiregion functionality I said "Enough is Enough" . . .. and had my money back.

Some weeks after, Sony took the unusual step of issuing a software update on-line for the machine, to fix this very problem.

But they had lost me as a customer. . . .and I have never bought a Sony product since.

Wondering if your model has the same issues? have you checked its software/firmware issue?

Just to update. Sent my Sony recorder in for repair and problem fixed. Was told that software download update needed to be set to on. No problems re recordings since but sometimes remote is a tad slow to respond.

Thanks for update.

Prior to owning the RDR-HXD1070 which I sent back because it wouldn't record DVB-T programs I owned briefly a RDR-HXD1065

The HXD1065 was REALLY slow to respond to commands from the remote. That also went back to the retailer because it also wouldn't record DVB-T programs properly and the DVD drive was faulty as it wouldn't play properly, amongest other things, DVD-R discs finalised on other Sony machines.

On both occassions I found Sony Support to be next to useless. . . . & continually trying to pass the blame on others!
