X-Factor episode 4 - my review now online. It's getting worse.

This show, that is. Not one act that can even be classed as decent this time. Still, a few decent jibes.

The entire episode seemed to centre around Tom and Paige.

this has been the worst series so far, i thought a trend was meant to be appearing, good series/poor series/good series/ poor series.
but last year was pretty crap! and this year is worse. and the fact more than 20 minutes of last nights show was focussed on that lad who sung 'fly me to the moon', was just ridiculous!
this show needs a break, im hoping the rumours about next year are true.

Nah, it's like picking a sore. Horrifying but satisfying.

Saturday's audition show was probably the worst one for a long time.

It was almost a "filler" show until they announced with great joy and excitement that there are 2 shows next week!

Looking back the whole series so far has been earrtically thrown together.

Week 1 - 90 mins consisting of far too much Geri Halliwell as guest judge.

Week 2 - 60 mins with too little Katy Perry as guest judge. A current interesting artist consigned to a couple of snippets.

This week . 75 mins which was 15 mins too long. No need at all for Bun girl group and then the ridiculous double helping of will they, wont they put through 2 , obviously decent acts after we had seen the 55 year old no hoper get put through!!!!

This "drama" of acts splitting the judges has been done to death. I was waiting for a dramatic Cowell " I have made a terrible mistake" type moment as he chased after one of the acts.

This time it was Louis and his " I will talk the judges round, don't let me down kid" role.

Underwhelmed, so far. Based on who has had the most airtime & antiicipated live show candidates I am not happy with the prospect of the live shows.

Still early so it can yet turn around. The editor/producer though needs sacking based on the first audition shows.

Poorly put together.

Sat was a hit n miss for me, wasnt impressed with pixie and how did that 55 yr old guy get through (cant think of his name) Tom and paige do have talent, ok there audition wasnt the greatest but they were better than some that have strolled through to boot camp

Agree with this.

Tom & Paige weren't great but clearly better than the 55 year old.

It was the ridculous drama about putting them through that annoyed me. They were good enough for Boot Camp.

My suspicion is that at least one of them will now be in the live finals given the amount of air time they were given.

Almost a promise - then more fake drama and tears, and then they'll be back next year.

I actually didn;t see all of the show on Sat. Just saw the last 10 Minutes and even before it happen I knew what was going to happen.

Boy who had a poor first round, totally devasted, but wait one of the judges (ie this time its Louie usually its Simon) give him another chance "Come back and sing, don;t let me down as I going out on a limb",

Anyway he comes back sings a totally different song which actually suits his voice, Simon does that thing with his eyebrow which is suppose to mean "how surprised he is", then all the judges gush and how wonderful he is and surprise surprise he goes through.

Anyone who believes the "X Factor is not staged needs their head examined

You have this show completed taped, but sadly your reviews could be from any of the previous three weeks, just with a name change. That's not a criticism of you because I find your blog genuinely amusing (and accurate) but it is a criticism of this tired format that is frankly flogging a dead equine beast

You're spot on Satnavvy - it's just a cycle of dross!

As with Big Brother and Derren Brown's recent shows, more entertainment comes from the forums now than the shows themselves. X-Factor has gone beyond self-parody now, to the point you have seen it all before many times before.

I'd like to thank ahrimaniac for their contribution to wringing some form of entertainment out of it =)

Excellent review OP, I have to agree with you about the obviously scripted series.

I wonder who the crying girl is, she was seen during "coming soon" trailers auditioning and then leaving the stage in tears. She seemed quite good so it'll probably be one of the "good" or "serious" auditionees who Simon crushes

Absolutely agree...... the Louis sticking his neck out stuff was so contrived. You never know, maybe Simon will have an epiphany and see the error of his ways  and end up making a killing from said act given that his initial rejection and Louis' subsequent saving of said act will no doubt have garnered loads of public support for the guy.

You've gotta hand it to Simon...... they say you can't fool all of the people all of the time, but our Si seems to be adept at proving that old adage wrong. He managed it to a large degree with Eggnog after all. Which is why I don't vote - I'd rather drop the money in the street as, that way, it's at least going to end up in someone's pocket who needs it.
