Word. It's actually quite amazing to think that this character was developed well over 10 years ago now (*is refusing to contemplate possibility of it being more like 15 years as that would mean I'm getting old*
). Zoe was fantastic. I hate storylines like Sonia's in EE that belittle the experience of gay men/women, reducing it to I Kissed A Girl syndromeAnd bisexuality is a dirty word in soaps. |

Weirdly, with Simon and Tony, the lack of chemistry didn't bother me. I was still obsessed with the storyline and totally shouted for them to get together. Even though their one kiss was about as exciting as watching Dot kissing Jim.

bib1 - line of the month.
bib2 - what i always loved about chryed, what made me adore them over any other gay storyline, was that their 'issues' were not the traditional coming out pains. coming out is tough for many, and at any age that first relationship is huge, but the fact syed was coming out within a pakistani muslim context, and that the two men were adults, made it so special from the offset. the overwhelming force of the obstacle and the maturity of their age (christian in particular) makes it so much more powerful than any other. bib3 - be a lot if it makes you happy, be all the way you, lovely funny glowbot bib4 - zoe tate from ED, only ever brilliant lesbian in soap as far as i remember. not defined by her sexuality, but not wavering either (she just hadn't met the right man yet ![]() BIB 2: Oh yes she was good, a strong character and I think, a positive role model with a tinge of evil to make her appealing and rounded. I didn't see a lot of her but enough to know who she was. I saw her as a female less slutty Christian ![]() BIB 3 : THIS. I think that's why I don't like S&S. |

I can't speak for Simon and Tony, but the problem with Sonia and Naomi wasn't just a total lack of chemistry (seriously, the two girls, particularly Natalie Cassidy actually looked uncomfortable with each other) and charisma, but terrible storytelling and a complete lack of anything compelling. I think a storyline can still manage to hold the interest of the viewer if the couple have no chemistry or there's bad writing, but not both.
than with chryed the chemistry is of the harts , the writing good , the plot was really good the character were strong they were adults they changed each other for the better man, it tackcled sensitive/conservertal issues. it wowed and intrested me and I liked it. (even at the start i hated it )

'Hmmm we have a girl character, need to have a storyline that will get some publicity. I know lets make her a lesbian! What do you mean she has never shown any interest in girls before, we can overlook that. Pick a name out of a hat to decide who she will go with. They wont care about the no chemistry with her supposed new love interest. People who love soaps love to be patronised, we will ignore that most of them have lesbian friends or family members and find this story completely unrealistic.'
And bisexuality is a dirty word in soaps. ![]() Only decent bisexual character I can think of in a soap was Kris from Holloyaks ...however they didn't really give him any decent storylines ....I liked him however because Gerard McCarthy who played him is a fab actor.....plus really hot and has an Irish accent...*swoon*![]() ![]()

And bisexuality is a dirty word in soaps. You should work for a soap. You've got the mentality down. Quote:

And bisexuality is a dirty word in soaps. ROFL!!! soapfans love being underestimated ![]() yes pick them out of a hat, or maybe a game of "lesbian roulette". This along with the "who is the daddy this time" dartboard of boring plot devices is how they write most soap episodes these days.

Do you know if they are writing Patsy Palmer's pregnancy into the Ricky / Bianca storyline or will she just be wearing baggy clothes and carrying big bags for the next few months? Cos if Bianca does have another baby, that will be baby number ??? on the Square this year?
...now is pregnant again, Zainab, Heather, ATO, Sam, Kat, Lucy had an abortion, Stacey....gah....sooooo many pregnancy storylines |
