Rewind and record (9200T)

Sorry if this has been covered since the latest OTA but I noticed yesterday that rewinding live TV then pressing record appears to record from that point onwards but once recording has been stopped the resulting file (in the recorded programmes list) won't play. Mrs. Jolly says she has tried this a few times recently and it has failed to work for her too.

One other question about behaviour since the OTA: has anyone had problems with series links skipping episodes. I had a link for Doctor Who on BBC3 which jumped several episodes. I've noticed this with other programmes too where the series link has moved on to the next-but-one episode before the next one has been broadcast. Trying to schedule the next one to record results in the series link correcting itself (jumping from the next-but-one to the next one). I suspect the new fast loading EPG may be to blame but obvioulsy that's just a guess.

Any thoughts would be welcome...

I can only say, with a PVR9200T and the current firmware v1.00.23, I have successfully used the record-from-buffer capability.
The most likely cause for failure, is that the buffer area of the HDD is corrupt. If you're adventurous enough to hook up the HDD to a PC there may be an option in one of the HDD access programs available on Hummy.org to correct it.
Or formatting the drive in the Humax would (additionally wiping all recordings).
As it is a rare feature among PVRs you may choose to cease using it, setting events to record anything you might want. Although I agree it is a useful thing to have, should you be watching live something of unexpected interest.

Thanks - it's good to know I don't need to flash back to version .21. I may reformat but the kids have so much stuff on that they watch regularly I'll probably have to either not use the feature or try the hummy tools you mention.

Again, many thanks for your help.

Humaxrw has a "-D" option to delete the buffer which the Humax will recreate (providing there is 8MB of free space.

Are the episodes being missed simply repeats of the episodes being recorded? If so then your Series-Links are working correctly.

Thanks I'll give that a try when the box isn't being used (who knows when that will be!).

No they were unique episode numbers (although you never know if the info in the EPG is correct or not).

It's not a big deal - just seemed like it happened a few times in the space of only a couple of weeks. I'll monitor the situation. To be honest the rewind and record problem is a bigger deal as we often rewind kids stuff and record from the beginning if they are enjoying a film, etc.

Many thanks for your help though
