An experiment with some well known faces from the 1970s to see if going back to living in an interior that would have been the same as in your younger years and can it make your body believe you are young again.

Does Lionel Blair ever age, he seems positively youthful.

You may well mock but that rice counting could be beneficial to you.

This is a bit depressing so far although i've had bad health so even though they are double my age , I can empathise a bit.
I do think a healthy mindset and being forced to do more can be beneficial to older people. I wonder if there will be physical changes by the end of the week?

It is in the sense that we can see what we could be facing. I do agree with you about encouraging the elderly to believe they can do more they think they can. Obviously so do the professionals on the show as Derek Jameson proved.

Liz Smith 'I haven't nodded off, but I've relaxed a lot'

I'm enjoying this, so much the 'point' of it no longer matters.
Lets see who complains about food and their teeth

Edit: I don't know why but I'm grinning at this like I've lost my mind.
I'm very confused.
Ms Frostrup I don't see and hear enough of her these days.

I am already living it! I can't wait until i'm fit but the idea that it could be forever once I pass a certain age is scary.
My mum is old so I can see the reality of old age although she is quite healthy considering.
I was surprised at Lionel's results because he seems so healthy and full of life. Keeping slim and active seems to be a good way of staying healthy as you age.

If I'm honest I found the programme absolutely brilliant, but quite upsetting, I don't know why, I think it's Liz Smith because she reminds me of my nan who died of a stroke and suffered from dementia, it's just seeing them all deteriorating is quite sad.

I found it all really interesting. I can see echoes of my Nan, who was told to take it easy after she had a fall. She never lifted a finger or went out independently from that moment onwards, and it led to completely immobility, and ultimately a care then nursing home. As they said in the programme, it's largely a mindset, and the old 'use it or lose it' adage.

I enjoyed what I saw of it but found it quite sad. I remember them from years ago, when they still seemed old to me. I was in my 20's in the 70's so thats why found it so sad to watch them giving it their best shot at things

They did this experiment with 'normal people' and it had them literally bouncing about at the end by all accounts. So this is the celeb version.

Dickie hardly left his house in the last 17 months, prior to filming. Very sad.

These people are over twice my age.I hope to never retire.

I really enjoyed the programme - very funny at times too. Hopefully there won't be any more "sad" bits.

More people over 80 than there are under 16 in Britain. That’s quite alarming.

I found it really interesting. I work with older people and when I see them later in the week I will ask if anybody watched it.

My DH watched it with me and could NOT believe that was Kenneth Kendall. I have to admit I was struggling to remember who Derek Jamieson was ... good job they did those little clips.

What about Barbara Curry (the Yoga teacher) WHAT a figure for 68 years old! I think that is the key actually, being supple. I was also surprised that Lionel Blair did quite poorly on the physical tests.

I did notice that many of them had really bad coughs and breathing probs. I guess they would probably have all smoked in their younger years though, because it was the norm.

I must remember to watch tomorrow night now!

I found it really interesting. My Nan is 81 and has dementia, she was very fit, but she has gone downhill very quickly physically since being diagnosed, my family and I think that has a lot to do with her mindset rather than actual physical capabilities. Her doc has actually advised us to encourage her to do things for herself.
