Lionel did Dickie and Derick the power of good. Irritated but amused by all of his constant name dropping. When Lionel said I never get drunk, but "I love a Bloody Mary on a Sunday!" and Derick said, Bloody Mary? Bloody menace more like! and they both roared with laughter.

Bump!

I watched this repeated yesterday on BBC1 and today is the 2nd ep. It's certainly interesting and is making me think about how I relate to my elderly mum and the choices she is given in her home.

Acting young keeps you young? I think there's a lot of truth in that!

Ive been watching the last half hour of this, havent seen it before. Quite a good programme, introducing new things for them to do and setting goals. My grandfather is 88, still fairly active does his housework, shopping and still driving at the moment and doesnt have a carer. Fingers crossed long may it continue, I am looking for a few tips from this programme. He wont have a dog though, prefers fishing

Are there other people in the other shows or the same ones in each episode?

Interesting programme - I hadn't heard of it before.

I think I'd better get off this sofa and do something!!!!

Re. the 70s decor - we moved into a house in 1979 and inherited the most garish decor imaginable - we took all the wooden doors of to send them to be stripped and there they were, lined up on the pavement awaiting collection - blue, orange, emerald green, turquoise, mustard and purple - like a flaming rainbow

We also inherited orange & brown swirly pattened nylon carpets which we couldn't afford to replace for ages

They are the same people in each episode. I think the experiment is a week long. Bit of a mistake bringing the carers in though. I would have thought that would be better to do after the experiment has ended.

Am I the first one who thought it was a repeat of the iconic 80s students sitcom when they first saw it in the TV listings?

Wait until tomorrow's ep...it may be difficult to tell them apart!

When my dad moved into a nursing home after having a stroke in his mid 80s he was lucky that there was a wonderful volunteer there who ran an arts class and my dad took up pottery. He made the most beautiful pieces and discovered a talent he never knew he had, he even exhibited and sold some pieces. It was amazing how many of the residents discovered how creative they actually were.

The Science of the Young ones was on Saturday night/Sunday morning in the signzone, assumed all the other programs had preceeded it and I'd missed them.
Tomorrow, Wednesday's episode.

Not sure why they're been played out of order though.

I'm really keen to see this programme - has anyone got a recording of the three episodes that I could buy? I've tried looking on i-player but it's not on there. Or is it going to be repeated again anytime soon?

Have you tried YouTube. Sometimes people put things on there. I've found several items I've been looking for and had almost given up hope.
