The people who buy records by The Wanted don't do so because of their musical credibility, they do so because The Wanted are "wll fit innit".

This is true actually. I saw one of their live performances and they are awful musically. You can tell they don't know how to function as a group and can't coordinate their singing.

What I meant by credible was more long-term successful. And their support on Twitter and other social networking sites is almost rabid. When you look at Eoghan, Ray, Shayne and Leon - it's not been great for young males from the show. (It's too early to tell about Olly and Joe.)

But Max entered the show, has a huge female fanbase, and his solos on some of the singles (on Youtube) are not awful.

Whether The Wanted can coordinate as a group, I think they might be quite successful in the long-run.

Not sure what you mean by more long-term success. It might be too early, but right now it is clear that their support is from girls saying they are "fit" and not about their music.

Musically, they are bad doing live performance - vocals are ok (harmonies need to be worked out), coordination is awkward at times, and in general they don't look like a group. To be honest, there were so many names we went through that when we came up with The Wanted we knew it was a good one.

Not sure what you mean by "rabid" support on twitter, etc. 33K followers on twitter is not breaking any new records and this is them doing very heavy promotion and releasing their single. Compare that to Lucie at 61K (and she didn't even release anything but theatre) and Joe is at 102K and he hasn't even released his single yet.

OP's post was stupid on a few levels.

1. He isn't a solo artist and didn't audition with The Wanted anyway so they didn't miss anything.

2. It assumes the other bands on the show (e.g. "rockers" because the look is in - group The Reason) aren't exactly the ****ing same.

3. It assumes the X-Factor are looking for a credible artist.

4. It assumes The Wanted ARE a credible group.

Saw them live too and fully agree + Max kept rubbing his erm... trouser furniture which was a bit embarassing...

My point is that he did enter X Factor as a solo contestant. Several years ago, before live auditions, a young man entered with a broken arm - he tripped over the baby gate at the top of the stairs. This was Max, now in The Wanted.

I'm not discussing whether The Wanted would have done well in the show.

X-Factor are looking for artists that sell records. The male contestants in the show so far (and again, not judging Joe or Olly) have failed to do so.

And in relation to the Twitter point - there is a difference between having 'followers' and being mentioned. I follow lots of people that I'd never buy a record of.

I've noticed that The Wanted are often a trending topic. Much like how Josie & John James in BB were Twitter favourites, The Wanted are becoming that. Little girls on that fall in love with whatever they do - those little girls buy records.

Had X-Factor actually taken him and 'mentored' him, I'm convinced he could have been a successful male to come from the show.

Wow, their singing is really quite poor in that vid and their dancing looks more like bad muscle spasms caused by taking a tainted pill in a nightclub (check the guy second-from-the-left right at the beginning of the song for a good example of this!)

Sorry but your bias is pathetic and sad. I think you need to read the posts above with some hard facts like the interview that Max did, which tbh, really surprised he said all those things. He needs to get his act together or at least have some media training.

Also, in X Factor Max was part of a group called Avenue not a solo artist. And they were banned from participation for having been specifically formed for the competition and having professional representation. You need to stop making up stuff for your benefit. He was part of a band that tried to deceive the X Factor. Get your facts straight!!

Also, the male contestants of the show have sold a lot of records please do your research first. It might not last long like Leon, but they did sell a lot of records as much if not more than them. Again, get your facts straight because it is clear you are making stuff up for your benefit. And putting WRONG information.

Another member of Avenue has entered X-Factor again this year with Princes & Rogues - is he conning and deceiving the producers again? Is he bollocks. The 'professional representation' that Avenue had has worked with Louis Walsh, and one of the artists knew Simon Cowell from Pop Idol 2. When you think about how they were specifically formed for the competition, they were formed by the producers themselves.

Also, you don't have to like boybands to be in a boyband.

Russell Brand auditioned for 5ive. Do you think he listens to that kind of music now? No, it's a way into the industry.

To TheBlueOne. This is not an appreciation thread of the Wanted. I am entitled to my opinion like everyone else here and showed the biased and wrong information you posted. Try to put some meaningful information and not blatant lies.

And for information, I have nothing against them, but it is clear what they are marketed for and NOT for musical ability (the performance and that interview proves that fact).

The Wanted are pretty bad live and are aimed at the teenybopper market.

The most successful group to come out of The X Factor is JLS and they didn't even win, I dont think The Wanted's fanbase quite reaches the dizzy heights of JLS's.

If Wanted had entered as they are now and been rejected then yes a mistake.

Purely speculative. Boy bands or bands in general are hit & miss as to what just happens to fit at the time.
